The Common Room / Re: 1921 census

The price is prohibitive. I purchased four transcripts and that is my lot until it opens up under a normal subscription.

I found out my great grandparents moved out of the family farm home I expected them to be (they presumably moved back) and were operating as green grocers! And my poor great great grandmother who I had bumped off in 1916 on my ancestry tree was in fact alive in 1921!

Northumberland / South Newsham Road area - photos?
« on: Monday 06 December 21 18:02 GMT (UK)  »
Are there any photos of S. Newsham before circa mid '60s - preferably earlier still? There used to be terraced ''rows'' there (where there are now trees) and a village comprising a reading room, shop and Methodist Church. Whilst I can find a number of photos on Newsham itself, and lots on Blyth, I can find literally nothing on South Newsham.

Hopefully a map of South Newsham should appear here; please excuse unproffessional use of sticky tape but i did make it a long time ago ;D

I am researching the area of the two Tilery Cottages in a hope to pinpointing them on the map. You stated that your ancestor were the Murrays who lived at one. My ancestors lived at the other. I have one or two theories. I am also looking for any photos of here, or the South Newsham area in general.

There was a Methodist church, a reading room, a few cottages, a school and terraced 'rows' by the way.

My Grandfather Thomas James Murray husband of Lillian Mann died in 1930 . His place of death is recorded as Tweedy buildings, South Newsham and his residence as the Tilery Shop also South newsham. Any information on either of these premises appreciated.
The death informant was T J Duffy, brother in law of 11 double row south newsham. info on this family connection will also be gratefully recieved.
Thanks  :)

I realise this is an old thread, but did you find much information? My ancestors lived at Tilery cottage (Laws), which seemed to be close to the shop. I think I have located both on a map.
