Hi Mckha489.

Thank you for replying

So the top is definitely the photographer’s signature. Thank you for confirming.

I’ll see if my cousin can send me another photo and I’ll repost.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply

Hi all,

A cousin of mine is trying to solve a family mystery.

We are looking for any information on a (W or D) G (George) Newman who was at one time stationed in Preston Barracks around 1943-1944.

From the photo we believe he may have been a Staff Sergeant in the Royal Engineers? But correct us if we are wrong.

This photo, along with the message that is written in the corner is all we have to go by so any help would be greatly appreciated. We can’t work out what the first line says either so if anyone can translate for us that would be incredible.

The photo was taken at a Newcastle photo studio of Jas Bacon & Sons.

Kindest Regards
Josie and family

Hepburn,

It really is.   I wished my grandad had asked more questions. Had spoken to his mum. Albert just casually said it and my grandad just absorbed it. Never said a word for a long time until he casually said it to his daughter in law (my mum). So there’s no one to ask now. We don’t know the circumstances.

How do I connect to the Hartridge/Presleys of Kent? And then to this huge community in America the Lively/Eplings?

I hope one day some one who holds the key does their DNA and we can finally solve this mystery.

Thank you for responding to my post.

Josie

Interesting from 30 Mar 1929.  Interesting that Stella is now shown as Stella Wilson

Her eldest son with Albert was born in 1929

I’m not hopeful. Especially if she was in a relationship with Albert at the time??? Who she also has children with.

But I’m grateful for any help I can get. You have solved one mystery maybe you are the one to solve this one too???

It was said this man was an ice cream seller. Now so far this isn’t true. Also I think it was said he was Italian. Again this is not true as my dad’s DNA doesn’t reflect this. Unfortunately we don’t have my grandads DNA.

Look forward to see what you can find.

Oh my goodness. Incredible information. Thank you very much for sharing this. Totally taken aback with all this new information.

Like you said wow she then becomes Wilson. I can’t find her wedding certificate even an index for her and Albert Wilson.

Wonder how they met???

You have been an invaluable help.

Many thanks

Josie

What an amazing story Biggles. I can’t believe you managed to solve your family history. This gives me hope.

Was a pleasure to read and thank you for sharing.

I too have Italian heritage. My nan was from Calabria.

Kindest regards
Josie
