Unfortunately, no record can confirm if he is born in 1821 or 1823.
There are different sources mentionning both years.
But he is born in Korfu for sure, like his sister.

Hi :)

"On the same census his occupation is seaman, like his father and his partner Mary Doherty's father John Docherty - Seaman: Merchant services."

We have 2 similar names in our burial registers at the Msida Bastion Garden in Malta. Unfortunately,  I can't find anything about them. Could they be related ?

John Doherty Halifax, died 1864 Malta
Mary Halifax, died 18 Jul 1854 Malta

But I have also this :

John DOHERTY, 21+, widower, born in Sligo, Ireland, employee HM Dockyard, the son of Patrick and Mary Doherty, married 12th December 1865 to, Barbara HALLIFAX, 21+, spinster, born in Wigton, Cumberland, the daughter of Barbara and the late Reverend Joseph Hallifax

And this :

John DOHERTY, Master of the Union of Malta Lodge No.407 in 1871

I'm clueless.... :(

Europe / Re: MALTA: Surname Terry - is this the anglicised form of SCERRI/XERRI?

There were some TERRY in Malta who came from England.
I have a Lt Col Robert TERRY, Town Adjutant of Malta who married twice (2nd time around 1830) and all his children were born in Malta between 1832 and 1842.
But no Thomas/John in that family, as far as I know...

There were Sankey in Malta since 1832, I guess. And at least two other generations after that.
I have a list of early Sankey there if it can help.

I hope this helps if you are still looking for the Wright family :)

I suppose we all have a few bastards here and there in our trees  ;D

Does he still have something to do with the Wright from Malta mentionned above, or is it just a coincidence that he has a similar name ?
