Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Re: Bridlington Library - Dennis KENDALL
« on: Saturday 10 September 16 09:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi Julie

My Dennis was born in 1918 in Sheffield the son of Arthur William Dennis KENDALL & Christiana Scott I have one marriage in 1978, so it's possible he had an earlier one!

The family did move to Leeds [can't put my hand on the dates at the minute]

Does any of the details match what you know?

Thanks
Maria

Hi

Ahh Blacksmith could be a link to George KENDALL as he was a coachman in Hull.

You can read about my KENDALL ancestors here

Hi Becky

What area of England did your husband ancestors come from, do you know what trade he had?

The 2nd photo we believe is George KENDALL, he was in North Lincolnshire till 1848 then after this date he moved to Hull.

Hi Phil
I keep coming across your name in connection to the BOCOCK family. I am not sure if we have exchanged information in the past. A NZ cousin and myself made the link between the Lincolnshire and NZ lines and a lot of our/my work on the BOCOCK tree's I have freely shared and has been replicated online [such as the BOCOCK family picture]. I would love to share information with you.

The Lighter Side / Re: "Heir Hunters" #2
« on: Thursday 17 September 09 19:33 BST (UK)  »
As potential beneficiaries sign a contract I guess there would be a cooling off period so a chance for them to change their minds.

In order to submit a valid claim to the TS the relationship and therefore the entitlement to the estate has to be proved, I would of thought? And once this is accepted then that heir would become the estate administrator and their duty would be to make sure all potential heirs are located.

The purchase of all the necessary certs [unless needed for research to find the heirs] would not be needed until the cooling off period has expired.

The main outlay would be the time and costs [wages, office etc] in the 'hunt' to locate the heirs. SO in cases where you have 10-12 staff dedicated to one case even if they only spent an hour each on the case would surely out weigh that of obtaining the certs. So if they don't sign/change their minds you have already incurred the main costs to locate the heir.

That's a reason why you look for cases with property/high value, you may fail to sign some cases but that if offset by the potential high gains from the ones you do sign.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Hendon Newspaper 1990 Death Announcement

I have heard back from Barnet Archives, they hold the newspapers but are unable to look up my request on my behalf. Is there and SKS who would be able to do a look up for me, when they visit to do their own research? I will reimburse any photocopying charges incurred.
