Hi everyone, if you go to www.englishparishregisters.com you can buy these records and many more for only a couple of quid. They're sent by email, so you get them back almost immediately. I've bought loads of stuff off this site - it's the best!

Hi, I knew a George Smallwood who lived in Sutton on Derwent. I can't remember when he died, but his Son and Grandson still live there and are in the telephone directory.

Hi, I'm related to Pexton's of Hull, but can't tie in with any of the other names you mention. James and Mary Pexton had Ellen 1853, Elizabeth and Rebecca Alice 1854, and Fred 1855 who was my Gr.Grandfather. They were all born in Wyton, Hull. The Pexton's are proving very evasive, so if you can tie in with any of these, any help would be gratefully received.

Hi,  Can't help with Thomas, but William Bowman was a farmer in Elvington, Nr.York, farming 120 acres and employing 2 men. (Born in Sutton On Derwent)
In 1861 he was listed as aged 68
Wife Harriet aged 52
Son John aged 30 - Veterinary Surgeon
Daughter Mary aged 17
Daughter Emma aged 14
Son George aged 10
They are actually listed as Browman on the census, but are definitely Bowmans.
Hope this helps you.

Hi everyone, a couple of us are building a website on the Village of Elvington, so if there's anyone out there who has any info, documents or photos, please get in touch. Living memories would be good too! Cheers
