The Walden's were the parents I believe of Mary M. Foster (b.1840) the wife of William...they(the Walden's) did not come over to the states until after their daughter was here...Mary and William and several of the children i.e. their first chiod a girl Thirza b. 1861 in England, their first son, Joseph b. in England  they migrated in 1868 and they are on the New Jersey 1870 census...The Walden's don't show up until 1880 and at that time they are living with the Foster's!!! It states on the census that everyone was born in England!

In regards to Joseph and Edward Hilton...I believe they arrived in New York City in March of 1868...but I have not been able to find the ship they came on as of yet>

Any help or direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Look-up please...being in the US it is very hard to gather any information...if you could please look up these names and see if you can find them living in the area I would appreciate it very much.

I am searching for my ggg grandfather Edward Hilton and his brother Joseph Hilton who migrated to US in 1868. 
Joseph Hilton   born in 1842
Edward Hilton  born in 1847

I am also trying to find my ggg grandparents  who came to US in 1868
William Foster                    b.   1838
Mary M. Foster                   b.   1840
George Walden                  b.   1811
Elizabeth Walden               b.   1812

You guys are geniuses...thank you, thank you so much Sue and Genni...absolutely amazing....would there be census records for that area...that I might be able to find her at...does any record tell you when she would have left Australia?

oh how excitig you guys ....maybe the prayer book is signed janey rather than what i thought (jenny) writing is little and old... hard to see...the prayer book says Skipton, Austraila with the year and is signed by "from your special friend"   which may be this Janey (JANE) Ralph...where where was Mrs. Jane Ralph???...near Skipton?...a gold rush town that is interesting!!!! Would they have a census from that time period of the people who lived there??...i feel with all your help we are getting closer...I don't think the Maria Poole on the Great Britain is her too old ...so to keep the dates in order.

In Austraila defintely in 1863 (i assume with parents...Mary and John Poole) and I assume  she came from England...but maybe India!!!!

In 1868 I know that she was in New York City

How do i find the immigration index on line... sorryfor being so dumb!!!!!this is all relatively new to me...everything I have tried turns up empty...it is frustrating yet i feel compelled to continue the search...i know she was there in 1863. her parents Mary and John Poole...(whether she had any siblings I don't know)..and in the states by 1868 and married in NJ in 1869...can't find records for her coming into the states , leaving Australia or even going to Australia...she just seems to have vanished when it comes to entering and leaving countries!
