Thanks Debra. I have no idea how you found that!
The cousin’s name is Eugene Leader, but until now i had no evidence that they were cousins.
Much appreciated.

Thanks Maggsie,
That’s an interesting find.
Eugene Leader’s mother was Margaret Murphy b. c1821 (m. Patrick Leader)
I’d wondered if they were related, and that was why Eugene had been the depositor for Owen. Perhaps Margaret and Anna Murphy were sisters - a bit of a reach, but might be worth looking into.
Thanks again.

Cork / Owen SHINE - Boherbue

Owen Shine (born c.1843) was my 2nd great grandfather. He emigrated to Australia in 1864, aged 21 (per Sirocco, arr. 3 Oct 1864, depositor Eugene Leader). His native place is given as Boherbue, Cork. In 1865 he paid the deposit for a Catherine (Kate) Shine, aged 19, farm servant of Gortateeboy. (I'm not sure if this was his sister or a relative). Owen married Eliza Jane Palmer in Orange NSW, 1873. No details of parents are given on the marriage certificate. Owen died in Eugowra, NSW 21 Feb 1898. According to his death certificate his father's name was Michael. This may or may not be accurate.
I am looking for any information about Owen's birth, baptism, parents or family in Ireland. With thanks.

Reaanne, I have sent you a direct message.

That's so interesting Reaanne. Which child of William and Esther are you descended from? I'm descended from Enoch Uriah. Do you know much about William's life in Australia? I'd be keen to share information.

Hi Jenny,
I realise that your post is more than a year old, but I wanted to let you know that I am a descendant of Charlotte Throssell and John Sharp, through their son, William. I am happy to share information about William. I believe that are are a descendant of James, who was born 2 years after Willliam.

Northamptonshire / Re: Thomas Throssell - Convict sent to Van Diemen's Land 1820

I'm delighted to have discovered this thread. I am also a descendant of Charlotte Throssell and John Sharp, through their son William (baptised at St Rumbolds, Stoke Doyle 30 July 1820) who was transported to Australia on the Eden in 1840 (the last convict ship to NSW). I believe that he escaped from the Government Printing Office, Sydney 27 October 1841, and was not recaptured. He resurfaced 20 years later in Windsor, where he married Bridget Esther Moran (daughter of convicts James Moran and Catherine Howe). I would be interested to chat to anyone who has information about William, or indeed to discover more about the Throssell or Sharp family.
Reaanne - are you descended from William or Charles?
