Armed Forces / Re: Served between 1901-1909? Knott

I am still building up GenesReunited will have completed by end of Aug. I believe the name Mayne Knott dates only as far as 1813. In my own family tree with have one Henry Mayne Knott whose is supposed to have 3 children (this could be the ones from 23 Cobden st Gloucester -1881 census). As yet this cannot be proved as I don't have a specific date for our Henry Mayne Knott but do know his father was Richard Mayne Knott) There are at least 2 others, I believe these are linked to the first generation of Mayne knotts where I have blanks for a couple of children although we do know they existed. If you send me your address I will post on what I have (most is from our family bible and research carried out in 1945 by my great uncle) as it's not yet complete or added to the GenesReunited website.
Regards, Richard M Knott

I am also searching for Mayne Knott's I am currently developing our family tree on GenesReunited but can pass on my research so far and would be grateful to see what you have. If you get onto the EllisIsland website you will see that:
Henry Mayne Knott (aged 32 in 1907)
His wife Bessie Hamblin Knott (25)
and his daughter Mabel Dorothy and son Harold Herbert emigrated to the USA from Southampton on Aug 15th 1907 on the ship Teutonic. He recorded his occupation as Cooper and was heading to Sacramento. I believe US records show he died in 1954 in Sacramento. I may have found a DOD for his son in Coconino Arizona in 1986. Henry had put the following name and address as his next of kin on the shipping manifest:
Henry Mayne Knott
77 Portway
Warminster
Wilts

I myself am looking into the Knotts at Cleobury Mortimer my Great Great Grandfather James Mayne Knott(Born 1844) had a brother called Henry Mayne Knott (one of 7 children including Harriet M Knott/Thomas M Knott/Sarah M Knott/John M Knott/and a Richard Mayne Knott named after his father and grandfather!)Richard Mayne Knott their father was born in 1814 and married to Caroline Marie. Therefore this is to early for your date of 1818.

However Richard Mayne Knott (born 1814) had many other siblings but I only know about his brother John, and I also know about his father called Richard(just to make it easy!) Knott(Born 1789) It is possible that the Henry Knott you are looking for was one of the other children of this Richard Knott who married Evelyn Mayne in 1813.

Richard Knott's father was a Farmer and a Cooper born 1762 and that is where my records stop.Whilst Evelyn was the only daughter of Sir William Mayne and Lady Evelyn, Evelyn Mayne (the daughter) had a brother who went on to become a senior figure under Peel in the early Police Force -Sir Richard Mayne).
