Ireland / LONGSON & COXON FAMILIES
« on: Monday 24 July 06 14:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am trying to trace my 3x great grandparents

I suspect that James Longson who married Hannah? in Ireland about 1820 was a serving soldier (His son James - born abt 1823 - was in the 5th Dragoons from 1841and was born in Belfast) I suspect that he followed his father into the Regiment any help and advice appreciated

The son James married a Margaret Coxon (he married her in England in 1845) Her birthplace was given as Fermanagh her birth date abt 1823. Her father was James Coxon a pensioner again I suspect a military connection.

I am new to genealogy and would be grateful for all and any help

Thanks
Jim

Followed up on 1891 census - getting desperate - I must be missing something but I just can't find details for Beatrice born around 1880 ( married James Longson around 1902 in Stockport) - or for the marriage of Matthew (her father and Sarah Ann nee Ward?) - The census records give various places for their birth depending which one you use - does anyon know anything so that I can try to get back on track

Peter,

LONGSON FAMILY

My name is Jim & I am trying to trace my family I have I believe, managed to get back to around 1786 in Stockport.

I am trying to close the gap between James Longson born abt 1786 and James Longson who married Elizabeth Worthington on Mobberley (his 1st wife) in 1744 - They had a son James birth around 1753 again in Mobberley.

I know that the James 1786 married Hannah possibly in Ireland and I would like to know more - but the two James (senior & Junior) from Mobberly interest me if you can help with them or their ancestors.

Don't go to a lot of trouble but I would be grateful for any help or guidance

Kind regards.
Jim

I am trying to find information on the Healey family. Particularly Matthew Healey born abt 1862 in Stalybridge or Stockport and his wife Sarah born abt 1865 in the same area. There daughter Beatrice was my great grandmother born about 1881 in either Oldhan or Stockport depending which census you believe.

I just cannot get back before the 1891 census for Marriages or births. I could be missing something obvious or simply search in the wrong way.

As always all help is appteciated

Jim

Sorry I'm getting confused Margatret was James Coxon's daughter not James Longson's

I must be getting tired

My 3xGrandfather James would not appear in the 1841 census as he had joined the army at just 18

Regards Jim
