Just thought I'd let you know Hals will send me a copy of John's baptism for 6 pounds. So I will be sending for it, hoping it will list his mother and not just his father. But is good to know they offer that service. I have already sent for John/Charlotte and James/Anne's marriages.
It's a Canadian expression for living 200 km from a large town. And just an update, thanks to your info I also found that James Tomlin's father John wasn't the one that died in 1848. The Workhouse location was bothering me, so I went back onto Ancestry and checked the 1841 census for that John, his birth date was off and I found another John married to Charlotte living in Boxmoor, so then I went into the 1851 just in case and found him married to a Mary, still living in Boxmoor, so I checked and found Charlotte had death. Anyways the family tree is growing, plus I have sent for some birth & marriages to confirm what I have recently learned. Ta for now
