Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / What is the word in the text
« on: Wednesday 11 June 25 16:51 BST (UK)  »
From Baptism Register Kirtlington, Oxfordshire.      1629.

I believe it reads " Thomas ye sonne of Edward HALL was baptized ye laft day of May being    ~~~~~     Sunday                  1629.
I cannot make out the word ~~~~~.

However, what also complicates is the calendar record for the year 1629, today, it shows that May 31st  was actually a Thursday.

Also, I cannot find details of a religious feast or festival that corresponds to or is in proximity to the date / day. Excepting, that it might well be Pentecost, which is / was celebrated around this time. But, to me, the writing as observed, does not look to show Pentecost.

Any assistance / knowledge much appreciated.

Thanks Brian E

I thought I would update still further I purchased his Death Registration on-line.

Didn't give me anything tangible that he is the James Edward HALL I am seeking :

He suffered / died from a liver abscess, for just over a year.

He had served as a Farrier Sgt in the 11th Hussars of the Punjab, that specific, as recorded.

One strange (to me) part of the record details : Royal Victoria Hospital, Hound, in two places.
Where the date and place of death has Hound RD written.

Do you know if Hound is maybe a district in which the hospital was possibly located ?

------------------------------------

Apologies for misquote of his name in opening post : His father was William and the person I am seeking is a James Edward HALL b 1872

I chanced on it, in the Find my past website :
The publication is found as a typical church burial register (in the example I found ) dating from 1864.

Each page header is adapted/endorsed " Burials in the Cemetery of Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, in the County of Southampton in the year ~~~ "

James Edward HALL is found on page 144 entry 1148 (for 1898 )

Find my past detail document as archive :

Netley, Hampshire   Burials            Army,  Hampshire,   England

ref WO 156 / 118 British Armed Forces and Overseas Deaths and Burials.
------------------------------------

His Death also has a GRO ref : December quarter 1898 South Stoneham 2c 39

Enquiry / Assistance sought :

Can anyone advise does a contact and or website exist, that may be able source information about a member of the 11th Hussars, in a period between 1885 through 1899.

My interest is for an individual Jame William HALL, described as Sgt 11th Hussars, when he was buried, in the cemetery attached to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, Southampton, Hants.

I have "lost" a James Edward HALL of Brill, in Buckinghamshire post the 1881 census and recently found this death. He is about the right age at demise, when he passed in October 1898.

Any assistance / direction most greatly received.

Thank you,

Brian E

It has been a while since this subject was responded to, by so many of you, once again thank you.

By way of an update I recently conducted further research and can say that following on from Eliza's marriage to William METCLAFE I was able to trace Henry and his family up to quite recent times.

For their privacy I will omit to give any married surnames, but will indicate that one branch had the unfortunate troubles of a Germanic surname (through marriage) that had to be anglicized in the 1930's. That was a first for me, but quite interesting.

What, by a presumption, now, was most probably Eliza never did marry Henry SAVEROUSE's father.

Understood,
I have found a consistency with my research subject of his age. It has not varied and as best as I can tell the local registry office found no death at time and place of anyone of the same age.

As I said I think this one has slipped the net, but you do wonder how many others might similarly have gone astray.

Update.
I am able to advise with the help of some researchers, the clergy and local government officers, the following was found :
Richard was afforded a burial, in an adjacent burial ground in his parish.
It is recorded (as yet not determined in which document) in church records.

The local registry office have again checked their records around the date of death / burial, for their districts and sub-districts and confirm there is no record.
Which in turn means no record was ever sent to the GRO.

Richard "slipped the net " it would seem.

The district local FHS have been extremely helpful in my search. So I thank them and recommend if you are stumped always ask, they might just be able to assist or point you in the right direction.

I have enough information now, to know where and when my elusive character was laid to rest to seek out others.

Thank you all for comments / suggestions / interest in my quest.
