Looks like he died Victoria and there is also this NSW.

Australia, Newspaper Vital Notices, 1831-2001
George Blake
Gender:   Male
Death Age:   66
Notice Type:   Death
Birth Date:   abt 1849
Death Date:   9 Sep 1915
Spouse:   Johanna Blake

Thank you, yes that information is correct .

My challenge is finding info on his life prior to arriving in Tasmania. He came as a trade worker to work on the Mainline Railway Company. All i have is he came from Middlesex.

He death certificate says "parents unknown" and his marriage certificate does not give details of his parents either.  It is possible he is an orphan as a child who was christened as George Blake in 1849 was left at the foundling hospital in Middlesex. Which i do have info on this orphan and his life but i was trying to find some solid information to confirm it was 100% my George Blake. But when i came across the information that his last address was 21 Chatham Gardens, Middlesex i wanted to research again with an open mind and retrace.

Thank you all with your help :)

Thank you for searching you were so quick at finding.
Blake was aged 24 on marriage in January 1874 so born circa 1849.
that is correct he married Johanna Smith in Jan 1874, Oatlands, Tasmania.

What year was the Land Order issued?    Any age on the arrival passenger list?
The land issue was 29th Nov 1875. No age on the passenger list but he was born 1849.

Once again thank you to all of you on your help.

Thank you for all your replies,
I have very little information on George Blake.

He arrived in Hobart Tasmania Australia in 1873 on the Caranjah . He worked on the railway line there in Oatlands, Tasmania for the Tasmanian Main Line Railway Company (Limited). Through the Railway company he was issued a land order that stated he was 23yrs old formerly from 21 Chatham Gardens, Middlesex, England. Unfortunately i don't have any information on his life in England before arriving in Australia . On his death certificate it states parents unknown. It is possible he is an orphan. But i know it was a long shot but i was hoping maybe with that address i was able to see if he was residing there with his parents as a young child.  Maybe he was only living there before he left England.

A big correction it was 21 Chatham Gardens, not 24 as i initally stated.

Apologies if i posted in the incorrect thread, i just got a little excited when i saw the older post with same Chatham Gardens. I will look at the other threads as i think maybe i should look at the 1871 census and work back from there.

Thank you once again to you all.

Hi all,
I just wanted to add info about
Thomas Smith (born773 Great Haseley, Oxfordshire)
married (m29 May 1795 Haseley Great, Oxfordshire)
to Lydia Harrison (5 May 1772 Great Haseley, Oxfordshire).

One of Thomas and Lydia's children John Smith born 12 Jul 1795 Haseley Great, Oxfordshire) married Elizabeth Arnold  (b 18 April 1794 Great Haseley, Oxfordshire).
Their first born also were twins so yes twins definately run in the Smith family.
I can confirm that John Smith sister Mary Buckingham.

John Smith had his twins
1816 Thomas and Susannah  in Great Haseley and his following children in Walington, Oxfordshire.
1817 Charlotte
1821 William
1823 Andrew
1826 George
1828 Eliza
1832 Harriet

John Smith, eldest child of Thomas and Lydia was born,1795 and died in 1877 (in Oatlands Tasmania, Australia.) His son George also died there too as they came together in 1849.

Hope that fills some gaps for some. :) :)
