It will probably be Freeholder and Copyholder.
(It will surely be explained somewhere in the Directory - either in the Introduction, or at the beginning of the listings, or at the end of the listings.)

Finally found it at the back - Freeholders liable to serve on Juries, and Copyholders.

See image - from Pigotts 1829 Directory of Derbyshire.
Any idea's what the F and C indicates after certain names? Can't see a key in the directory.
F appears after some farmers but also after other trades, so I don't think it is F for Farmer.

"Proprietor of houses" (probably relates to the previous entry)
"House servant"
Thanks - also thought that line may refer to the prior entry.

Any idea's what the text boxed in yellow reads? It's for a girl in her early 20's.
Thanks.

I'm trying to identify the author of a letter dated 19 Nov 1918. It is signed 'William' and he gave his regimental number, regiment, and location: 29213 7th Battalion B___ [?], C Company 12 Platoon, British Expeditionary Forces, France (see image). He was likely from Derbyshire.

It’s amazing they still survive today - they were discovered in an old suitcase in a partially collapsed loft in an house which had apparently been cleared a few years ago. They refer to events as far back as the 1840’s, and ancestors born in the late 1700’s, so a real treasure find for my family history.
