Hope these attachments work.

When they say West Tce, I assume they mean St Patrick’s on West Tce..
I hadn’t thought to look up the witnesses, thats a great tip.. but after a good Trove search, there’s not any clues there that I could see.

DEATH CERTIFICATE TRANSCRIPTION
WHEN DIED – OCTOBER 8TH 1885
NAME & SURNAME – PATRICK BOURKE
SEX – MALE
AGE – 49
RANK OR PROFESSION – FARMER – MARION
USUAL RESIDENCE – MARION ROAD
COD – PROSTATIS DIBILITY
PLACE OF DEATH – MARION ROAD
PKT 94   7/15

Re name spelling, it seems to flip between Bourke and Burke mostly, but has turned up as Bourk and even Burk!

Wish I had more information.. it’s not through lack of trying!
Patrick’s death certificate lists his occupation as farmer. A funeral notice says he was a brother in the IOOF. That’s all I know about him.
None of the children’s births were registered, and I haven’t had any luck getting any baptism records from the church.. do I need to slip them some $?

 - Daughter Alice married Thomas O’Brien in 1888 at St Patrick’s, Adelaide, aged 25.. they were dairy farmers.
 - Daughter Johanna married Henry Smith, labourer, in 1884 at Marion, aged 26
 - Daughter Mary didn’t marry
 - Son James must’ve died as an infant, as the name was re-used
 - Son James Patrick was a bootmaker and petty thief who did a few stints in the clink before disappearing off the radar
 - Son Patrick J married (I assume, but can’t find ANY record) Annie Gooley and had 10 kids, firstly in SA’s mid north, before settling in Adelaide. He was variously a labourer, a bullock drover, and a salaried horse racing tipster.
His death record at Little Sisters of the Poor has his mother as MARY Healy.
Not sure what to make of that..
I have DNA matches with descendants of Alice and Patrick Jnr.
Really just clutching at straws now 😕

That’s awesome advice! But not much to see here.. very few from Limerick and this Anne seems to have come on her own.

Yes, thank you.. that is my ‘most likely’ Anne Healy arrival 🙂

Hi Wivenhoe

Anne & Patrick were married at West Terrace, Adelaide.
Witnesses were John McDonald and Mary Stokes, both of North Adelaide, no signatures.. those names aren’t at all familiar.
Bride and groom both used X’s.
Anne’s marriage age is listed as 26, however her death age of 64 would mean marriage at 23.
Their children are difficult to confirm as their births weren’t registered, but from what I’m piecing together, we appear to have
- Patrick J Burke (2nd GGF) (c1857-1940)
- James (1858-?)  (from BISA)
- Johanna (c1859-1938)
- James Patrick (4-8-1861-?) (Springbank, Adelaide) (from BISA)
- Alice (1864-1926)
- Mary (1865-1948)
- Michael (1867-1933)

Yes, as you see from that death notice, Anne was living in Marion when she died

Family History Beginners Board / Looking for Anne Healy, Ireland to Australia 1850s
« on: Wednesday 13 July 22 05:42 BST (UK)  »
Looking for any information on the ancestors of my 3rd great grandmother Anne Healy/Healey. Unfortunately I don’t have much to go on..
She married Patrick Burke in Adelaide 1857, and her father is listed as James Healy. She died in Adelaide in 1898.
Haven’t been able to lock down an arrival.. there are several possibilities just in SA and many, many more nationally that I’m trying to work through.
Anecdotally the family were from Limerick.
Any clues much appreciated 🙂

Looking at your list of children at reply #3, the description of John Francis BURKE as the second son might be of use to you.

Spot on

The Advertiser 27 Mar 1915  p14
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/5454863?
On the 6th March 1915 John Francis  the dearly beloved second son of P and A BURKE, of
A Burke, of Weller Street, Goodwood, and late of the 10th Battalion of Reinforcements
of the S.A Expeditionary Forces aged 30 years.

Yes, poor John Francis got sick and died in Egypt, before he got to fight.
The family seemed particularly cut up about it.. they weren’t big on newspaper notices, but I’ve found a few memorials for this John

Yes, that would give BURKE Patrick died, 1940, a birth year ~ 1838.

He dies as a widower, at what sounds to be a Catholic hospice, and no family mentioned in the death notice.

Even if his age is out by a few years, he would be a brother to Patrick, died 1925, if they would at distant ends of a large family. So, maybe........an uncle......assuming that the age, 87y is not a transcription error?

I suspect that the death certificate would not be so useful to see because......he dies as a widower, at what sounds to be a Catholic hospice, and no family mentioned in the death notice.

Just to confirm..

BURKE John Patrick   87y   died  27 Mar 1925    (born 1838)
BURKE Patrick          85y   died  31 Jan 1940     (born 1855)
