Hi AK
Unfortunately, I do not have Ancestry.
I have tried to post a photo of Christian and her husbands headstone but its telling me the file is too big.
This is the site if you want to look at it.

Cheers Tam

Hi Tam! Thank you for this. Do you have any photos of Christian or her family? I have one photo of Rebeckah. If you want I can email you a copy

I have in my extended Family Tree some Burnetts from Kirkcaldy who married into the Galloway family of Kirkcaldy.

Agnes Burnett (28) married Thomas Galloway in 1916 in Kirkcaldy.  Her parents were John and Isabella Burnett.
Do you know of a connection to your Burnet ?
cheers, Ian

Hi Ian,
I don't know of any connection, but I can share what I know about my 4th gg's first husband.
David Burnet married Agnes Baillie in 1814, recorded in both Dysart and South Leith. He died in 1821 at 26 years old. I believe David's parents were Jean Diston and David Burnet Sr.
Agnes and David had four children including two boys David (b.1815-d.1881) and Alexander (b.1820-d.1868). Alexander passed away in Brooklyn but David remained in Fife. Both David and Alexander were bakers like their father.  David Jr. married Ann Lister and they had a son also named David born in 1852. I do not have any further info on him but I hope this helps!

Hi AK
Thanks for your reply.
My Christian Forker 1806--1874 was indeed the sister of Alexander Forker.
Christian married John Stark 1800-1861 and their daughter Elizabeth 1828-1890 married John Stark 1831-?. I got a bit confused with her marrying a man with the same name as her father!!!

Elizabeth and John had a daughter, Christina 1857-1943. Christina married Evariste Laval in 1874. Evariste studied to be a doctor in Edinburgh. He originated from Mauritius and ended up back there practicing as a doctor, Christina and Evariste had other children also born in Mauritius. ( his father was a merchant from Maritius)

Do you have any further details on Rebeckah Smith being born in Shetland or her father and his family origins in Orkney?
Cheers

This is all so very interesting! It explains why I didn't have much info on Christian Forker until now.
Rebeckah Smith was born 26 Jul 1763 in Vertingsgarth, Sand Cunnings, Shetland. Her father was Magnus Smith born 24 Feb 1723 in Holm and Paplay, Orkney. However, I have not spent much time researching this line farther back yet.
Let me know if you'd like to connect on Ancestry.
Thanks for the info on Christian!

Hi Blairvadach,
Rebeckah Forker (c.1822-1897) was the daughter of Alexander Forker (c.1796-1856) and Jane Spence Thomson (1795-1867). Alexander was the son of Thomas Lonie Forker (1763-1847) and Rebeckah Smith (1763-1840), and possibly the brother of your Christian.

Thomas was son of Alexander Forker (1727-1778) and Christian Lonie. Rebeckah Smith was born in Shetland, but her father and family originated in Orkney.

The spelling Forker/Farker is an anglicized form of Farquhar.

Hope this helps.

Hi John,
I've searched all births for Fife on Scotlands People from 1820-1834 but John & his four full- siblings have no baptisms recorded. I've tried different spelling variations. It's strange, since his four half-siblings' birth records from 1814-1820 are all available from Dysart. I've looked through the record collections from Fife Family History Society and had their help as well. Either the records are lost or they are filed under the completely wrong name. The marriage between his parents, John Adie Sr. and Agnes Baillie, is also missing.
I do hope to come across at least the marriage record one day since the entry may include some information that could help identify John Sr.'s origin. I'm not sure where he was born, only that he was 38 years-old when he died, a baker, and was buried in the grave of William Horn November 23, 1833 in Dysart. As of now it seems that the only parish records of this family available are after 1844, the first document being the marriage between John Jr. and Rebeckah Forker.

I sent you a private message with my email address

Scotland / Re: Any Gordon and/or Fife Historians? Fife Gordon of Huntly DNA connections?
« on: Wednesday 12 January 22 01:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi RWJE,
I am a member of the Eadie surname project, but do not match with anyone else within the group. If you are the group administrator, I believe we chatted at one point via email about the Adie/Eadie families in Scotland and yours in Ireland. In the Gordon surname project, my results are listed on the site which I believe is public. I do not match with any other Addie/Eddie/Eddy/Addison etc. You can see my DNA under the septs results page but only match (12 Markers) to the Gordon and Seton line and to Sutherland and septs within the Gordon project: Keith, Todd, Elliott, and Anderson but no Adie/Eddy/Adams/etc. For autosomal DNA results, there are no Adie/Eadie matches besides those of our immediate family.

From my own research, I have clustered three other Adie/Eadie families hoping to find a connection to. There is a large one from Perth (Adie/Drummond), one in Dundee, and the oldest one Adie/Skene in Aberdeen. From a family history submission on the Gordon DNA project site http://www.thegordondnaproject.com/230477.html
I was able to eliminate the Dundee Adie cluster, having no genetic relation. You can see our results compared side to side http://www.thegordondnaproject.com/Results-Septs.html
next to the Adie surname...Surprisingly, there is no relation, even distantly. I have not yet found a connection to the Perth or Aberdeen families and am unsure if they descend from the same person.

If you are on Ancestry I can send you an invite to my tree if you'd like. I tagged the DNA connections so they are searchable by surname. Reviewing your Campbell family link, none look familiar but if the St Andrews referred to is the St Andrews in Fife and not Orkney, then there may be a connection I am not yet aware of since I haven't yet found any other Adie or Eadie that I am related to.

I appreciate all of the links. I am still trying to learn as much as possible about the documented Adie/Eadie families and find the Adie/Skene family especially interesting.

Hi John! I apologize that I am only seeing your post now, I must have missed it somehow. But I am very excited to see your reply! Thanks so much for the information, it would be amazing to finally connect my mysterious great-grandfather with the William Horn he is said to be buried with. I'd love the chance to swap family trees. Or if it's easier, I could send you my email.

Hi! Thanks for your reply. Yes, this is my ancestor, John Adie 1821/1822-01 Apr 1905. In 1841, 1851, 1861, and 1871 his occupation was weaver. In 1881 he was listed as a callender worker, in 1891 news agent and tea merchant, and 1901 as news agent.

His mother was Agnes Dryburgh Baillie, widow of David Burnet who died May 1821. She had 4 children with David (married 1814 S. Leith & Dysart) then had an additional 5 Adie children with John Adie Sr. There aren’t baptismal records for any Adie children and no Adie/Baillie marriage record. Agnes is named “Margaret” on some children’s death certs and her spouse John is referred to both as John and “William”.

He is the ancestor I cannot trace. He died 29 Nov 1833, Dysart buried with William Horn (unknown connection), occupation recorded as both a potter and baker. Agnes Baillie’s parents were Alexander Baillie and Margaret Page Dryburgh. John Jr. married Rebecka Smith Thomson Forker Aug 1844 and had 9 children.

None of the family members have led me to any new information unfortunately :/
