Great news Sandra

Voucher working for me and it’s now four years in a row!

My concern was the web-links that I had added would disappear when I renewed but I needn’t have worried as they are all there.

Thanks

I have cancelled ( due for renewal 6th July ) hoping that the voucher will work on the 7th…

My only concern is the possibility of losing my attachments/records..

I will let you know how I get on

Ross & Cromarty / Re: Looking for help…..why was Zachariah Ward in Stornaway?
« on: Sunday 15 June 25 18:49 BST (UK)  »
Thanks very much for this information.
The census shows that he was
Serjeant C B R Avillisag!
I am also lead to believe that he served in the Crimean war.
In later census records ( English) he’s a labourer/ Chelsea pensioner.
His wife Sarah was born in Haddington….maybe he was stationed there too!!
Thanks again

Ross & Cromarty / Looking for help…..why was Zachariah Ward in Stornaway?

I am researching

Zachariah Ward 1825–1900 Birth 18 APR 1825 • Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire,
Death March 1900 • Yorkshire East Riding

In the 1861 census he and family are living at 7 Scotland St, Stornaway.
Two older children were born in Kent and the youngest was born in Stornaway in 1859.
He’s a Sargent in the Royal Regiment of Artillery. He was discharged in 1867. Living in Yorkshire by the 1871 census.
Why would the army be in Stornaway?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Trish
I can only find 1 Marion Mcfarlane born between 1800-1810 on SP. She was born 1807 in Liberton to William Mcfarlane and Elizabeth Johnston. So she could be the youngest of the family group that you posted.
I have her marriage certificate, 1841 and 1851 census records and a possible death!

Thanks Trish and mck
I think I can rule this William out.
I’m trying to work backwards from Marion. She’s the only person that I know who is definitely mine.
She died
Thanks

Hi folks
Looking for help and any information about William Mcfarlane b 1783. He married Elizabeth Johnston and had at least 4 children. William’s parents are likely be William Mcfarlane and Jean Whyte.

One of William and Elizabeth’s children was.
Marion Mcfarlane 1807-1853 (my 4x great grandmother) she married William Brockett in 1853.
Marion and her siblings all born in Edinburgh.

I can’t find any marriage records for William Mcfarlane and Elizabeth Johnston.

I got a hint on Ancestry (see photo)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
