Jaqui,

Sue is a wealth of great info.  I fear I have not thanked her enough in the past or kept in touch.

Hi Jaqui,

Nice to hear from you.  I've been looking at this puzzle off and on (more off than on if truth be told) for a while now.  I'm the grandson of Edwin (1906) Annetts.  The only child you mention that surprizes me is Violet May.  My Grandad never metioned that name.  If you read my last post, I can account for Queenie and Edith#1.  Anyone else help with Violet?????

Thanks
Trent

Wiltshire Completed Lookup Requests / Children of John Annetts and Hannah Martin
« on: Thursday 01 June 06 12:52 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm looking for the children of John Annetts and Hannah Martin who were married 03 Oct 1791 in Grt Bedwyn, Wiltshire.   I'm pretty sure they are the parents of my 4x great grandfather John Annetts who was Christened in Trowbridge 27 Apr 1792 (seems to have been a tradition...born in Grt Bedwyn, christened in Trowbridge...not sure why).  I have found the following possible children:
 JAMES <ANNETTS>International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 19 OCT 1806 Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England
 HANNAH <ANNETT> International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 24 JUN 1810 Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England
 ANN <ANNETTS> International Genealogical Index.
Gender: Female Christening: 02 FEB 1800 Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England
 MARY <ANNETTS> International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: OCT 1803 Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England

All have parents John  & Hannah so they are possible siblings of John.
I'm curious about the 8 year gap between John and Ann.  Were there any other children baptised in those years?  Any help or insight would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Allibaker,

Thankyou so much for all this information. It will be of great use and is very much appreciated.  I did know of his marriage and a number of the children but not all.  In fact, the Lovelock line is fairly well documented back to the late 1690s.  Now, thanks to you, the Annetts may be less allusive.  Thanks again!

Cheers
Trent

Further to my previous posting....

Here is the list of Annie's children according to my grandfather for anyone interested.  The dates are from the FreeBMD

Grace    1898
Arthur   1900
Fred      1902
Doris     1904
Edwin    1906 (my grandfather)
Gladys    1908
Edith      1911

From the information our family has gathered, it seems likely that Edith Victoria Annetts and Queenie Emberley Annetts were twins born to Annie in 1897.  Queenie is listed as having died in 1898 and there is an Edith Emberley Annetts listed as passing in 1910 at age 12 which fits with Edith V Annetts' age.  Since Queenie's death predates my grandfather's birth and Edith passed when he was only 3 or 4, I'm not surprised he had no memory of them.  He did recall a sister Edith as marrying someone named Bill and having 2 children so I'm inclined to believe that Phil's friend's mother, Edith Mary Annetts, is my grandfather's sister.   Exciting stuff!!

Now there are stray Annetts in Poole according to the FreeBMD:
Alfred 1893
Stanley 1904
Winnifred 1909
Hedley J. 1911(marriage)

I have no information on any of these people.  So, if anyone could help with either my grandfather's family or these strays I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Trent

Hello,

We believe Annie Annetts was born Christiana Annetts around 1871.  She is the daughter of Edward Annetts and Sarah Rolfe.  All are from around the Great Bedwyn area in Wiltshire.  In 1906, she bore a son Edwin Annetts in Poole.  He is my grandfather.  His birth certificate names Annie Christina  Annetts as mother but no father is named.  We haven't been able to match any Annie or Christina Annetts to Annie as of yet so Christiana remains the best match.  My grandfather claimed not to have known who his father was and the whole business seemed to be kind of a "dirty secret."  In fact, his marriage certificate lists an Edward Annetts as his father.   From what he told us before he passed away, we know that the  Annetts children of the 1901 census were his siblings and my father remembers visiting his uncle Arthur Emberley and cousins as a child.  We feel strongly that Edwin Emberly Sr. is my grandfather's father but have no actual proof.

Anyway, my father, Norman Annetts, was born in Poole in 1935  son to Edwin and Amy (nee Wood) Annetts.  He emmigrated to Canada in the late 1950's and here we are.   Thanks for the Emberley information.  I can give you a list of all Edwin Annetts' siblings....just don't have it handy at the moment.
