Donegal / Re: Curran and Stevenson Ramelton

Lodger.
HI I am a curran from ramelton and was showing this to my farther last night and he has a great knowledge of the family history so I will sit down and try and get information from him

Hi Rocky111,

I hope we can make a connection, I know of a Curran relation who lives at the Roughan, big house on the right at the top of the hill. He has a brother who I met about 2 years ago, he farms on the other side of the town (last house before the bridge was his directions!)
I plan another trip to the Ramelton/Letterkenny area in June to attend a wedding, so perhaps we could meet up? I have a good deal more information on the Curran and Stevenson families than I admit to on the Board, it seems to have more than its share of know-it-all's!
I was in Conway's in August this year, a good pint of stout and the Blue Goat is a great shop.

Did you ask Joe about his Buchanan roots - his great grandmother was Rachel Stevenson....

Tyrone / Re: Pollock / McNutt (or Nutt) family

Hi Matty -

Andrew Nutt and Martha Pollock were my great grandparents.  I'll pm you.

Samuel Lennox's wife was Eliza Jane Nutt - born at Gortnaskea, Bondsglen - November 1840.  Father John Nutt (1809-1876) a blacksmith.  Mother Mary Ann Hannah(1819-1871)

John and Mary Ann had 11 children (that I've found).  Sometime between 1846 and 1848 they moved to Claudy.

Eliza was married to Connolly Blair first - he died in 1865 - and she married Samuel Lennox in 1866.

Hi

Great to see you're still slogging too!

No - Olivia's father was from Co Down (and his mother was from Co Antrim)

I think DNA is a bit of a crap shoot - Gary and I have very different amount of cMs in our matches - sometimes I have matches in common with David that Gary doesn't have any - and Livy, has another whole subset.

I'm trying to make a database of the McComb/es because they are so bl**dy confusing!

Cheers..Lyn

Hi Peter - It's Lyn - I forgot my original login details so started a new one.

Livy is Olivia - my father's sisters daughter.

Ardground (Mc)Nutts

Dad's parents were Willliam James McNutt and Sarah Anne Scott

My brother’s kit is A936823. There’s a 10.4cMs match on Chr 7. And numerous other smaller matches. Livy, a paternal cousin is H345075. 2 good matches on there.

There is a likelihood these may be associated with the Scott’s. Lots of Scott and Nixon intermarriage. In Derry and Tyrone.
Cheers.

Hmm should have checked further.

Rebecca Margaret Sherrard   - mother Esther Lamrock, father Thomas Sherrard.

Esther and Thomas were married 19 April 1864. Two witnesses Thomas Smith and an Andrew Nutt, who could have been my great grandfather on my paternal side.

The Stevenson’s are maternal relatives.

Must investigate further....

Hi.

Margaret Curran is/was my 3C1XR. Her mother was Catherine Stevenson, whose father was Joseph Stevenson, my  GGG-GF. Her father was Patrick Curran, his father was Charles Curran.

I have some details on that side of the tree, if you’re interested..

I don’t know much about James Black, sorry, other than his father was James Black too!

Cheers...
