West Lothian (Linlithgowshire) / Re: Alexander Lumsden, Mining Engineer
« on: Wednesday 17 October 12 23:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi Alys

The info comes from a CD purchased from the West Lothian Family History Society. The burial place is shown as "West Calder" so presume that it is a cemetery, as burials from the churchyard are shown as "West Calder Churchyard" The info is transcribed from the original burial registers. The "I" could easily be a mistake in the transcription.

With regards to a plan of the cemetery, perhaps you could contact Donna.Johnston@westlothian.gov.uk
She may be able to send you a plan. She kindly sent me a plan of Uphall Cemetery.

Hi Alys

Alexander Lumsden, mining engineer, died 11/6/1894 and was buried 15/6/1894 in West Calder. Lair no. E8.

His address is shown as Bellsquarry and he died of cancer of the stomach. He is shown as aged 67 and born in Scotland, brother of I. Lumsden.

No others are shown as being buried in the same lair.

West Lothian (Linlithgowshire) / Re: 1851 Census Lookup "Alexander Anderson"

Hi again

Also if you go to http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

amend the year to 1841 and insert the name Bland Brown, which is quite unusual, you will find details of 4 of them in West Lothian. May help you in your searches. There is also a Lucretia Brown lurking with Bland and his father Bland!!

In 1841 you will also find Lucretia Anderson aged 65 with Alexander Anderson aged 63.

There is only 1 marriage showing between William Drinnan and Agnes Fairweather. It is in 1940 in Whitburn West Lothian. You cannot view it on SP as it is outwith the closure period, but you could order the certificate on line.

Hi Anne

Another surname to look for............................AUDREY :o

Just found them on the 1851 census disc for West Lothian.

After many variations of Andrew(s) I left out the surname and looked for first name James, 25 years old +/- 3 years in Bo'ness and found the family.

Needle in a haystack comes to mind.

Cheers
Jean
