Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / A Mighty Challenge! My G, Grandma...
« on: Sunday 06 January 08 06:16 GMT (UK)  »
This is an extremely rare photo of my Great Grandmother, Ivy King (nee Dickman), taken when she was 23 yrs of age in the year 1919. This is the only photo we have of her at such a young age... It's one of those photos that was simply "stumbled upon", and we are rapt to have found it. However, as you can see it has taken a rather large beating over the ensuing 88 years...

Thank you to one and all for your efforts! We really appreciate it!

Hi
thanks for that great info.......hmmm wonder why Thomas and Christina were not living together...or if it was for just the census night...
he did migrate to Australia sometime in the early 1850's leaving her in Dunbarton with the children....she came to Australia looking for him in 1858, never found him though..her parents travelled with her as well as her 2 brothers...but I believe they came back to Scotland as I cannot find records of them here in Aus....
seems strange they would come all that way then go straight back....
any further info you can find would be appreciated, such an interesting family ........
interestingly she had a shop here on the goldfields as well...

Dublin / Re: Beales, Kerr and Rogers
« on: Monday 26 November 07 12:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi LH
I had no idea there was such a place........on John Beales death certificate it mentions dublin..........and on his daughter sarah's death cert it mentions dublin...
I have John Beales parents as Benjamin Beale and Sarah Slater he was a farmer.

John Beale and his wife Margaret and their two children migrated to Australia in 1848 just a few months after the birth of sarah Beale..
also migrating with them were Margarets children by her first marriage to James George Rogers....I do not know where Mary Rogers and Catherine Rogers were born but George Rogers the son was born in Wexford according to his death certificate..

How would I go about searching the old parish registers for Cloghran/Swords..........

Dublin / Beales, Kerr and Rogers
« on: Monday 26 November 07 04:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I am trying to find any info on this family.
John Beale
born 1821 in either Dublin or County Wicklow.
Parents: benjamin Beale a farmer
mother: Sarah Slater
married Margaret Rogers nee Kerr abt 1844
children:
John Beale abt 1846
Sarah Beale 1849 born Dublin
migrated to australia 1848 on the "Stag"

Margaret Kerr married James George Rogers poss in Wexford and had at least 3 children to him..they must have moved to Dublin as he was supposed to have been killed in the riots abt 1840 he was supposed to have been in the Royal Irish Constabulary.

I cannot as yet locate her death cert so place of birth and parents are unknown as are James George Rogers ......

Hi there
hoping someone can help I am searching for my gg grandfather.
James George Rogers
based in Wexford when his son George Rogers was born on 8th feb 1836.
His place of birth is not known nor marriage date to Margaret Kerr..poss 1830-1833

wife Margeret Kerr born 1808 poss wexford.
According to family "history" he was in the Royal Irish Constabulary......and was killed in the riots in Dublin abt 1840...( shot by rioters)

There was no further details to support this and I searched ancestry's records and did not find his name..
His decendants still retained his sword till after the death of his wife in 1878.
Margaret kerr remarried abt 1844 in Dublin

They migrated to Australia in 1848

hoping you can help clear up this family mystery

yes that is a strong possibility as well death reg are very unreliable..........family researchers have been led very astray in our family research due to wrong first names and also wrong surnames eg jane burningham instead of hannah burningham.....rebecca campbell instead of rebecca scammell...wyatt instead of hyatt and the list goes on
