Donald ROBERTSON from Perth[shire?] (son of James ROBERTSON) married Agnes COUTTS from Banff[shire?] (dau of Peter COUTTS) marr 25 Dec 1754 in Rotterdam, according to the transcribed church records.
Donald ROBERTSON is probably partner in Robertson, Coutts & Co, merchants in Rotterdam.
The Coutts partner is one of the family who founded Coutts Bank; Agnes COUTTS must be related.
Does anyone know more about this Peter COUTTS?
I'm wondering if there is any connection between them and William ROBERTSON merchant in Rotterdam who was born in 1711 in Keith, Banffshire to Alexander ROBERTSON (latterly at Scotsmill, Boyndie and merchant in Portsoy - he was born abt1666) & Elspet LORIMER.
I am related to the Elspeth Anderson m Robert Thomson line - still working on it though ... I know they had a child/children - will post back when find out more
Primrose Bell Thompson was my 3Xgreatgrandmother's(Mary Thompson) brother. His parents were John Thompson and Margaret Bell, married 3 Feb 1812 in St Nicholas, Aberdeen. The name Primrose(applied to males) was carried on through the generations. The last one known to me is my great grandmother's brother, Primrose Gerrie, who died in infancy. Is there anyone else who has run into this name used for a male?I have a Primrose ROBERTSON and a Primrose STRACHEN in the family
Hello Kiwiceltic - I think that my husband's family are the family you are looking for. He was born in the Tarland area and several generations of his family were born and lived at Broombank, Tarland and this is in the same area as the Andersons you are looking for. The Slack is an area on the outskirts of Tarland and there are quite a few properties in that area. The other area you mention is actually called Migvie and it is at the other side of Tarland, beside Logie Coldstone, although they all border each other around this small village.Sorry I have not gotten back to you Dorothy, have had health issuses to deal with, yes please for your ANDERSON database information.
There are three distinct Anderson Families in the area, however they are also connected through marriage so they can be quite complicated to seperate, I'm still convinced that they are related to each other if we could just go that far back.
Would you like me to send you my database of Andersons?
