Very interesting Chris! The information helps me to understand my weaving family's life. Although they came from the county Perthshire, none were actually in the town of Perth. I enjoyed the article immensely...thank you!

Hi Carrie,

Not a clue as to occupation!

As for the name....I've found at least 15 different spellings of this name. Don't think I've found your McKissock....will certainly give it a go.

They were mostly from Perth but some did move to Fife and died there, I believe. But not doing very well with them yet!

Thanks for the link.

Best,  Sheilah

Hi Bruce,

Sorry, think you have mixed me up with Cornes....he is the one commenting on 'Ronald McDonald'

My ancestors mentioned in this thread are the McIsaac/ McKisaik family from Comrie, Perth.

Hope you find yours,

 Sheilah

Ah, yes, those McIsaacs! I'm afraid I am no further on than I was with them six months ago. You may well be right about your James being from Comrie as there were a lot (various spellings) of McIsaacs around there. As more records become available, we may yet find them!

I have a couple of Birth records of my Katherine/Catherine  and agree with you, Bruce, about the state of them. Very unreadable!!

If anyone finds any more McIsaacs around the Comrie area we would be grateful to hear from you.

Regards,

Sheilah

Hello BruceL,
Yes, I well know the effects of doing things in a hurry!

Mary Ann Melvil was, as far as I can work out, the last of the 6 children born to Daniel Robertson and Catherine.

Catherine, well, an enigma if ever there was! I have her surname on various documents..children's BCs, marriage.. with so many variations. The IGI seems very fussy about turning up variations on this name (although not on any other names I have researched) and seems to require the exact spelling before it turns up all variations of McIsaac.  I have found the following variations, as well as just plain Isaac.

McIsaac    McKisack    McKiasack     McKiasach    McKiasaick     McKisaick   McKiasaich   McKisaich  McIsaack

I would welcome any help at all in trying to trace these Robertsons and McIsaacs. I know they came from Perth and travelled to Fife , and that Catherine is most likely also a Drummond. There seem to be very few people I have come across researching Perth!

Warmest wishes,

Sheilah

Hi Stephanie,

Just seen this new reply to my post re Robertsons. I've not got much further with them! :-\ Seem to be very few records for them. You say you have some baptism records for Peter and Charlotte...sounds very interesting.

I've just taken up with my Robertsons again after following several dead ends on another branch. Let me know which Robertsons you are researching, could be a link..

Regards

Sheilah
