Rootsmagic on my computer. Basic tree (no photos or notes) on Ancestry, mainly for DNA purposes. Backup on separate harddrive and in the cloud.

I have a transcript of Caversham marriages from Oxfordshire FHS.
The marriage of John Stivens and Alice Atkines took place at St Peter Caversham on 27 February 1597. There is no further information on the transcript.

I realise you may already have this!

There is a William registered in 1838, and a Charles in 1839

No, nothing definite I'm afraid. There is a baptism of a Robert son of John Bilcliffe at Hope in Derbyshire 22 October 1637, but nothing else in the timescale. The records are very lacking of course.

Yes, I have the same marriage to John Senior. Well done for getting back so far! You might like to look at my profile page at the Guild of One Name Studies. Just go on the website and do a surname search for Biltcliffe and you should find it.

I've only just seen your post about Robert and Martha Biltcliffe. I have made the assumption that Mary is a mistake for Jane, rightly or wrongly! Both the children you mention were named Martha too, which makes a copying up error even more likely.

I have an extensive database of Biltcliffe (and variants) as part of my one name study and don't have a possible marriage of a Robert to a Mary or a burial of a Mary in the timescale.

No guarantees of course!

I felt very uncomfortable about the bearded man, and I really hope he had some counselling afterwards. His whole view of his family had been thrown up in the air - not only was his father not his birth father, but his mother had apparently had more than one extra marital affair. I hope the coincidence of the beards didn't influence the programme makers when they chose to use this case. I thought it was quite unethical to use it.

I think it would depend on how close a person was to the deceased, rather than their actual relationship. In my case, I very rarely see or contact any of my first cousins, but feel close to some of my nieces, and my husband's nieces.

Thanks. I find Deceased Online useful at times, so I've stocked up using this offer. As an occasional user I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.
