Hi Fiona,

Great to hear back from you. I also have his marriage to Ann Carter and Margaret Richmond. He married Margaret after the death of Ann despite them being together for x amount of years and having children.

I have a copy of William B Pritchard's Will and he names all children from both women in it so I am extremely confident that we are right.

I hadn't come across his marriage to another Ann, prior to Ann Carter.. I will take a look at this.

Did you ever come across a birth record for William Pritchard? It's causing me no end of headache trying to get to the bottom of this.

Also the name Bridgett that he started to use later in life confuses me. Someone on another forum suggested he might have been born as William Bridgett but then his mother married a Pritchard which is a definite possibility but I can't seem to find any evidence of that either.

There was a William Bridgett baptised in Leeds in 1801, father James. But no further mention anywhere...

Do you have the names of the two daughters that he had with the first Ann?

Hello Ashleigh

I haven't got any further at all with James.  I'm still expecting to find him somewhere... I think he is the one who died in Leeds, 1849.

However, I did find that William B had married twice before marrying Margaret Richmond. Do you have these?
One was Ann who died in 1829 - no surname as I can't find the marriage, but had three daughters.
The second was Ann Carter in Bradford in 1830 by whom he seems to have had 2 daughters and a son - just before, and one at the same time, as he had a child with Margaret.  The second Ann moved to Manchester at roughly the same time as William and Margaret, kept a separate household and looked after his daughters by the first Ann.  He married Margaret after Ann Carter died in 1852 which seems to be when his children with Margaret were baptised.

Everybody seems to have been aware of everybody else.  The marriage certificates of his daughters by the two Anns are interesting.

Hi Fiona,

I am also researching this family as they are a direct relation. Did you get. Much further with this family line?

I've gathered quite a lot of information but trying to find a birth/baptism record for William B Pritchard's father James but I'm not getting anywhere with it.

Happy to share research  :)

I wonder if someone might be able to locate the following family in the 1851 census:

William B Pritchard b. abt 1805, Leeds
Wife: Margaret, b. abt 1814, Dublin, Ireland

Sarah, b. abt 1840, Manchester
Joseph b. 1844, Manchester
Sophia b. 1847, Manchester
Edwin b. 1849, Manchester

There maybe older children too.  William's occupation maybe chiropodist (but only maybe).
I can't find them on ancestry at all.

Many thanks

Fiona
