World War Two / Stalag 334 and the royal fusiliers
« on: Wednesday 13 January 21 20:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

My great grandad James was part of the Royal Fusiliers 9th battalion (London Regiment) and part of C Company. He was captured on September 10th 1943 just after the Salerno landings and was taken to Stalag 334.

Does anyone have any detailed knowledge regarding this regiment, campaign and PoW camp?

Many thanks in advance :)

Here is the marriage of Michael Meehan and Johanna Fitzgerald

Could this be a brother to your Mary?
CWGC - Private Michael Meehan

My grandmother has said that Mary did have a brother Michael who died sometime during D day.

She also mentioned that Mary’s brother Jimmy (James?) was a radio officer in the Navy and her other brother David was killed in Italy.

If Michael and Joannah had sons with those names then I think these are the right people.  :)

All information so far seems correct when put up against what I already know. I will have a look at the 1939 register :)

More information that I have just received about her brothers, they were called Patrick, Jimmy (possible James) and Michael

I've heard that they were a well-known family in Donovan's Yard.

Which Town & County is this?

Annie

It was on Cabul Road, in Battersea, London.

I'm 90% sure that she had a brother called John, although James is also a good shout but I'll have to ask my Grandmother to be sure. :)

Hello ellimarie,
Are we looking for a Meehan/Fitzgerald marriage and then back from there?

Heywood

We are indeed, I would assume it would be before her brothers were born which would be pre-1920.
