Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: John Maclaren or Maclearn
« on: Saturday 03 April 21 07:44 BST (UK)  »
Kia ora koutou,

I know I am very late to this chat but I am also looking for information about John Maclaren/Maclearn/Maclarn who married Ann/e Rogerson on June 15 1788. We are descendants of his through his son Adam who was born September 7, 1799, in Alnwick, Northumberland.

We live in Aotearoa/New Zealand under the surname Maclarn. John is the furthest we can trace the name Maclarn but I cannot find any evidence of this name existing before him. I have found a record that shows he was married under the name Maclearn which makes me wonder if Maclarn was not his real name? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kia ora, my name is Sacha and I am looking for information regarding the Tongan part of my whakapapa. Edwin Sandys is my great, great grandfather. he married Bernice Latu in Tonga and they had four children, William, Jane, Richard and Martha (my great grandmother). Is this the same Edwin Sandys that is your grandfather? Did he move to Fiji, re marry and have more children? Some of the names you listed show up in the Sandys family tree that I have from my grandmother. I guess he used these names for his children (e.g. Alexander). Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: family search in Tonga

Kia ora, my name is Sacha and I am researching the Tongan part of my whakapapa. Martha Melelupe Sandys is my Great Grandmother and she moved to New Zealand in her 20’s. She married my great grandfather Ahiataewa Royal. We know that Martha was the daughter of Edwin Sandys and Bernice Latu, and had 3 other siblings, William, Richard and Jane. I would love to get in touch with any other decendents of Edwin and Bernice Sandys. Thanks for your posts so far.
