Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Warmfield, Yorkshire

Hi,I lived at Kirkthorpe untill I got married aged 23, in 1957. I also went to "Warmfield British School" from 1938-1945. The infant teacher was Mrs Wilby who lived opposite the school in the bungalow which is still there. The other teacher was Mr Richard Herbert Senior who live at Crofton. I passed my scholarship at the age of 11 and went to Normanton Grammar School. But as money was very scarce I had to leave and went into mining.
There is a very nice photograph of St. Peters church for sale on ebay.It finishes in 16 hours time. Anyone interested, just put Normanton in and click go. DG.

HI there, Chapel Row, Foxbridge Row, Goodhope Row. Cooperative Street and Pontefract Road were all demolished in the early 1970's along with the Silkstone buildings. The area is now Wakefield Europort. As the name suggests, Chapel Row did have a Chapel at the main road end. About 100 yards from the chapel was Pontefract road Methodist Church, and I know for definite that the church was demolished in September 1967 and at that time all the other streets were still standing.PS,I married a girl from Cooperative street in 1957.

The Lighter Side / Re: How many years have you been searching for any one person?
« on: Tuesday 26 December 06 00:02 GMT (UK)  »
At the age of three, my unmarried mother gave me to another couple saying she hoped to come back for me sometime. She never did. This was 1937.I stayed with my foster parents untill I married in 1957. I loved my foster parents dearly and never asked them any questions about my real parents.

When all the celebrations were going on for the new Millenium, (2000), I contacted my birth mother and asked her who my father was.She was very nervous but very honest and full of apologies for what she had done. I was very surprised when I was told. Three years later  (2003), My son-in-law got me interested in the family tree. From this I found out my real father had died in 1961,and on making further enquiries, found his grave 1½miles from my house. It was a very emotional moment. He is buried in the same grave as his parents,my Grandparents I have also found out that he never married. My birth mother died in 2005 aged 90 years. DEEGEE.

In our tree we have an gentleman who was named Fergus O'connor Wood on his birth cert'. on later cert's we have him as Fergus O'connor Squire Wood, and then finaly he ended up calling himself Prince Edward Squire O'connor Wood. On his death cert' he was just Fergus Wood.He died in the workhouse, and on his death cert' it says he died with Abcess of the brain. I wonder if this had affected all his life.

My late wife had an Aunt who's name was Fanny. On her birth and death cert's which we have here, it was just plain FANNY. DEEGEE.

I was born out of wedlock in 1933. I was brought up in a foster family and I was 66 years old when I found out who my father was.

It seems to me that some people have now found a new contraceptive,-------Staying on Rootschat all night!!!!!!
