Hi there,
Apologies I haven't replied yet. Just going through all the info. Yes alot of it's very helpful. I wasn't aware he had a daughter Alice who died very early on. Also wargraves info very helpful. I did have some facts about his service record but its refreshed things for me.
A guy Allan kindly found me an image of Alfred in Birkenhead news.
I havent been able to locate any other images. My family seem to have no pictures or drawings of him.
Anyhow thanks to yourself and everyone for all your help. Much appreciated. Karen

« on: Sunday 08 August 21 20:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Looking for any info on yewtree farm  bidston and the royden family who lived there.( 1800s to 1900s) My great great grandfather was george royden Think he was married to Elizabeth simcock.  His daughter was Hannah Royden my great grandmother who lived there also. I also had an great aunt May Clarkson who spent her childhood there as Hannah had many children and I gather found it hard to manage. Therefore May was brought up by Elizabeth in her later years.
. I have quite alot of info on family from ancestrry- and we have an old album.( linked to royden family bible.) Would like more info around the farm and anything else that might be of interest. Many Thanks. Karen

Cheshire / looking for william manleys (1848 to 1901) father
« on: Friday 19 March 21 13:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, My grt grt grandfather was a william manley 1848 to 1901 born in Cheshire. His mother was Anne manley (nee wright) who married a samuel manley born around 1805. He was born in Wales. They had 3 daughters Mary born 1836, Ann 1838 and Etty born 1840.
I therefore presumed that William's father was also Samuel. My problem is that  Samuel manley does not show in the 1841 census (it doesn't state if Ann is married or a widow). By the 1851 census it does state shes a widow. Therefore had samuel died by the 1841 census??
Also in the 1851 census William appears with Ann and his sisters. However he also seems to appear in another 1851 census as  a grandson staying in wales with his grandparents (his grandparent being a  samuel manley- he died I think in 1851 - father of above samuel manley). Possibly William just happened to be staying in 2 different places when the census was recorded in slightly different dates in 1851?
My question is can anyone tell me if Samuel Manley was the father of William , and the date of Samuels death?? Furthermore  if anyone can confirm Samuel's mother and father and dates? Many Thanks
