Yes, they are uploaded to all that they can be. I've been trying to edit my post to say that but kept getting an error!

Family History Beginners Board / Where to go next with DNA results
« on: Wednesday 26 October 22 12:24 BST (UK)  »
I did my ancestry DNA a few years ago with the hope of finding info about my maternal grandfather Mr. Grady (his first name changed multiple times over the years depending who you spoke to)
I only got 4th cousins or smaller in my matches.
There were no matches to his name either, having checked after 1 year, there are now 5x 5th/6th and less cousins with the name Grady /O'Grady.
I'm clutching at straws a little but it's the first ever lead!

I have added them to a group and found our linked matches (similar to Leeds method)

My question is, where do I go from here.
Thank you

Edit-Results are also uploaded to all other sites they can be.

I'm guessing 'next letter' on page 4
Thank you.
Makes sense

another little bit of info. Banns read March 13, 20 , 27 1864 Wrexham for Albert Edward Dawson and Sarah Margaret Jones. No sign of a marriage. He married Mary Jane in Aberystwyth 16 Sept 1864.

Wow the plot thickens.... What were they playing at haha

There's a fair amount of info for the Dawsons,

yes  - they weren't a very peaceable lot, were they?

I finished going through the newspaper archive for Aberystwyth and got about 300 bookmarks, no exaggeration, for the petty sessions and other court appearances!

this baptism says Albert Henry Dawson but it's in the right place, Wrexham, and father is Charles, saddler as per marriage. Mother is Martha. Birth was registered as Albert Edward march qtr 1844 mmn Jones.

Brother Charles has Kenrick as a middle name as does, on some records, Charles son of Albert.

News report of death of father Charles under 'Dreadful accident on the Railway'

I think that the news article about Charles Dawson may be my GGG Grandfather looking at the dates.
Whenever I've seen it in the archives ive always dismissed it for some reason. Silly me!!

There's a fair amount of info for the Dawsons, which is why the missing birth certificate for John Austin 1888 is so odd...

Thank you for all this, I'll have a proper look when on laptop

I think this is a funeral report for Martha Dawson/Constantine/Wright - I wonder if the names of mourners and those sending flowers may give some clues?

That's brilliant thank you, definitely some names to check through

You could try looking for her on census under the various possible surnames from the list of marriages you have found.  Also, look on Ancestry, Findmypast etc for an image of a parish register entry of the marriages, if she married in church you might find her this way as father's name and occupation will be shown.

Great idea.
They seemed to be very involved with the church as a family, with regards to birth marriage and death
Thank you

There could be any number of reasons she didn't raise the child herself and left him with her parents.

Have you looked for a marriage?  She may have started afresh and had a family with her husband.

The 1911 census gives the number of children still living so if you can find that census for her parents it would indicate if she was still alive or not.

Looks as if Albert and Mary Jane both died in 1908 though Mary Jane seems to be Jane in census. Ages in census and death registrations are very inconsistent. As Mary Jane/Jane is recorded as  born in Ireland I'm tempted to say that's an avenue to explore for Mary A in later years.

I knew I had seen number of children born/alive somewhere.
Mary Jane is all over the place, claiming different birth cities, countries and years on every census. She was a big drinker if the local news archives are to believed. She also doesn't appear on paper pre marriage which is something I'm also focused on, but am waiting on DNA results as I've explored every other avenue for her.

I'll do some searches for Ireland next, I don't think ancestry includes Ireland in the standard searches, so I may have missed something glaringly obvious.
Thank you
