That's a lot of options Fay think that's the only way forward  ;)

Another source to try is https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/ - they have a section specifically on Middlemore Home children.  Members have related stories regarding their ancestors and also links/tips as to how they found further information.

Its worth having a look.

There is a birth registered on GRO - JACKSON Henry - no MMN - 1889 Aston Dec Q Vol 06D page 203.

I appreciate we are looking for a birth for Hubert - but Henry is his middle name, maybe the name Hubert was added later.

There is a Hubert Jackson aged 8 - departed Liverpool 1897 - ship Assyrian - arrived in Halifax Nova Scotia 15 July 1897.

I cannot find that he travelled with family - only numerous other male children.

Just a quick update on my original post

I sent an e mail to the appropriate address as per Ross's information (on the 12th May) together with relevant documentation.

I did initially expect an automated response,  but have heard nothing.

I have sent my request again but still no response.

World War Two / British Army Medical Records - WW2

Firstly I would like to apologise if I am posting my query in the wrong section.

Having received a copy of my fathers army records (he served during the 2nd world war) it is noted that he was admitted to Barnsley Hall Emergency Hospital (due to injuries received) on 17th June 1945 and discharged 7th July 1945.

After a little research I contacted Worcester County Council Archives and advised this fact and enquired as to whether they held the said patient records. They replied that they did, but I would need to get authority from Herefordshire & Worcestershire NHS Care Trust due to the 100 year ruling for closed records. They also advised that once I had the said authority I would need to forward this to them plus I would need to pay a search fee of £50.

Having been granted authority from H&C NHS Trust this was forwarded to WCC Archives along with my fee.

I have now been advised by the Archives that despite searching their records they cannot find any trace of my father being admitted there and receiving any treatment as a patient.

In fact - they have also added they they DO NOT actually hold the records for Barnsley Hall Emergency Hospital.

Would anyone know who would hold the records I am looking for and if they are available to be released to me.

Warwickshire / Witton Cemetery, Birmingham - 1903 Burial Register Query
« on: Thursday 22 February 24 17:49 GMT (UK)  »

I have a copy of a burial taken from the burial register for Witton Cemetery, Birmingham - March 1903.

There are 3 columns - headed - "Special", "Consecrated" and "Unconsecrated".

My Ancestor has the letter "S" alongside his entry and under the column "Special".

Does anyone know what that refers to or has come across that before.
