Canada Lookup Request / Re: William Richard Johnstone
« on: Tuesday 14 November 23 09:24 GMT (UK)  »

Canada Voters List shows the William R Johnstone was still with Joan in 1963 at Wilmer Street, Victoria. BC

William R Johnstone - RCN - appears with Olive E Johnstone - Floral Designer in 1968 at 904 Humboldt Street, Victoria. BC.

Which website are you using for this Canada voters list ? I can't seem to find this particular entry on Ancestry. I might be missing seeing it.

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful help

Canada Lookup Request / William Richard Johnstone

Hello

My apologies - I didn't mean to post in Canada resources ! I meant to post in Canada look up request !

I am researching my grandfather - William Richard Johnstone b1924 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. After many years of searching, I recently discovered he was my grandfather via a first cousin DNA match. (my Nan had an affair during the war while her husband was away and she never divulged his identity)

One of his other grandchildren who I met online via facebook has given me some information so far, and I've added it to my tree.

He was a Royal Canadian Airforce pilot in WW2 and served in England (where he fathered my Mum but didn't marry my Nana). Not sure if he served elsewhere.

He returned with an English wife, Joan (nee Dallimore) and daughter T A Johnstone, and they moved to British Columbia and lived in Vancouver and Victoria. He later divorced Joan and married a lady named Ollie.

I'd love to find his birth record in Manitoba, his second marriage record which I believe would have been in Vancouver or Victoria (I do not know his second wife Ollie's surname at this point) and also the birth records of his children A E Johnstone & D J Johnstone.

I have created a public profile of him on my ancestry family tree.

https://www.ancestry.com.au/family-tree/person/tree/161900165/person/292291503199/facts

I'm finding Canadian research so hard as everything seems to be spread over many sources.

If anyone can help find out about him and his children (my aunts and uncles) I'd much appreciate it.

Thank you kindly

Jane

Not what you asked for. I noticed from your tree you did not have wife Harriet's death. She appears with daughter Annie(1882) on the 1939 war register and her death is probably as below aged 96 (1850)

Deaths Mar 1946
Morris    Harriet    96    Manchester    8d   447

John
thank you  :)

Lancashire Lookup Requests / James Morris
« on: Tuesday 07 March 23 14:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hello lovely people !

I am stuck on finding the pre marriage life of my ancestor James Morris born abt 1848 - Manchester, Lancashire.

He worked as an iron turner, engine maker, engine fitter, mechanic in wire works, fitter turner - in that order on the census data I have.

He married Harriet Green (b 1851) on the 4 July 1868 in Manchester. I have all of the details of his life from his marriage onwards. But nothing pre-marriage.

On the marriage certificate it says his father was John Morris, a warehouseman.

James year of birth on the marriage certificate is 1848.

His death registration year of birth is also 1848.

Census data from 1871 to 1911 have his year of birth as - 1849, 1851, 1848, 1850, 1848.

So it looks like it's most likely 1848.

Please can anyone help me ? Thank you !

PS: I have his profile at ancestry:

https://www.ancestry.com.au/family-tree/person/tree/161900165/person/292167925646/facts

(you may need to change the ".com.au" to your region such as ".co.uk" for England or ".com" for the USA )

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / ??? BOOTH
« on: Sunday 26 February 23 10:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all

I'd greatly appreciate someone's interpretation of this name from the 1891 census from Longton, Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire - I've marked it with a red X

I've already worked out the surname is PERRY of Mary, Thomas, Thomas & Isaac.

But the last BOOTH child's given name is a tough one.

Thank you.

Hello, I was wondering if there is any way to tell if at all and when this RAF member had any time off his aircraft mechanic duties during ww2 from these records ? Basically I'm trying to work out if he was not working as an RAF mechanic when my mum was conceived sometime from Dec 1943 - Jan 1944 (she was born 6 Sep1944) as the identity of her biological father is in question as to whether or not it was this man or someone else.

Thankyou in advance

Hello,

Can anyone read the first name on the second line ?

It looks slightly different to the first name on the top line.

This is for two fathers on a marriage certificate from 1912.

Thankyou
