This thread looks like it's gone cold but of anyone from the Bryans family is interested, I have some information about Charlotte Bryans - 9th child of Catherine Hicks and  William Bryans including her marriage and death certificate and her obituary. Happy to share.

F M P has a possible baptism in Cheddleton in 1801, son of Solomon and Mary.

Cheddleton is about 4 miles from Leek.

Thanks so much Chempat. I"m not sure that this George Goldstraw is my GGG Grandfather but it's a good start. I will see where it leads.

Thank you so much for the information and the welcome, Ev. This really helped. I was able to look up the Tasmanian Newspapers online and find the ship arrival announcement in several newspapers. I  discovered that his name had been mispelled in every newspaper (different spelling per paper). Once I worked this out, I was able to identify his arrival in the Tasmanian Archives. If it hadn't been for the lead you sent, I would have been looking for years!

Hi, I"m new to the site andgenealogy so I'm still finding my feet. I've been looking into the life of my Great Great Great Grandfather, George Goldstraw. According to his death certificate, he was born in Staffordshire. I do not know his parents names unfortunately. He came to Australia (we're not sure if he was an emigrant or a convict) and was married to the widow Jane Cowl (nee Robinson) in Launceston in 1838. On his death certificate, it states that he was 40 years old when he married. I'm trying to find his birth certificate and family connections in Staffordshire. What other information would I need to collect to lead me back to his English heritage?  Many thanks in advance. Helen

Thanks to Hallmark for the link to Fermanagh Church records. I was able to locate Charlotte Bryans' from Dernish baptism record. Now to work out what happened to her between 1831 and 1854/55 when she emigrated to Australia!

I have just begun researching the Bryans from Galloon. My Great Great Great Grandfather was William Bryans who married Catherine Hicks. My great Great Grandmother was Charlotte Bryans. Charlotte emigrated to Australia around 1856 and married a Robert Bigley from Athlone in Hamilton and then settled in Warrnabool where she lived until her death in 1820. I would be very grateful if anyone has any information of the families life in Galloon before Charlotte left or could point me in the right direction.
Many thanks, Helen
