Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: Lewes sussex lookup if possible please
« on: Sunday 12 November 06 03:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Dawn
I was just wandering in the sussex page and your query sparked my interest for the mention of Lewes.  (4xgr/grandad)   I don't know where in Australia you are, but if you're in Nsw, you could look up the shipping and bdm indexes.  I found a Henry Athrell died 1881 Sydney, numerous Attrills (mostly girls!) b. in NSW and a John Attrell arrived 1842 on the Samuel Boddngton (reel 2144 p 192)
I got my best clues for my lot through the shipping records of assisted immigrants because they show parents names (if they were alive!).
You may be well ahead of me here, but if not, I hope this can help

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Zillah PARTRIDGE West Bromwich 1841/51
« on: Saturday 18 March 06 23:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Anna
Thanks for confirming Zillah's birthdate.  I found her fairly early on in the westmidlands bdm, but it doesn't give dates so altho I had deduced her to be in the second half of the year from her immigration details, it's nice to get it a bit tighter.
I really don't know how to go on from here with Daniel and Hannah. She would have been born about 1802 i guess and him the same.  On the LDS site the only Daniel marrying a HAnnah between 1820 and 1840 was this one in Birmingham in 1833 and the bride was Hannah Archer. The problem with them is that on the 1861 census the whole family were apparently born in West Bromwich.
Thanks for the interest you've taken
Elena

Thanks Anna, I think I might have read that somewhere.
It would be fairly easy to read Silas as Silox and vice versa so that's probably the brother. I wonder what happened to him?
More to the point now I guess is finding Daniels marriage. Nothing on LDS around 1824 and too early for Westmidlands BDM. This may be my next wall!!

Happy weekend to all

Thank you, all you wonderful people!
It does look like dad was Daniel.  There is a Daniel partridge born 1800 ch All saints West Bromwich with parents Francis and Ann. but that would make him abt 32 in 1841 wouldn't it?
I also found a marriage for a Daniel and Hannah but in Birmingham
Thanks again :)

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Zillah PARTRIDGE West Bromwich 1841/51

Hello all,

Is there any chance someone might find g gma Zillah PARTRIDGE or her mum Hannah on the '41 or 51?  JohnP kindly found her on '61 but Daddy was defunct!  So now the hunt is on to know who he was,  I suspect Daniel,  but need some verification. This is an elusive family.  I can't find her on the IGI, no marriage details so don't know her maiden name.  They lived at 59 Wodden ? Square LAne West Bromwich is 1861.
Thank you, from the land of Oz.

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Zillah Partridge of West Bromwich or Wednesbury
« on: Wednesday 08 March 06 10:22 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you very much John!  You have filled in a large hole.  I had found Zillah's birth and marriage details on the Westmidlands Bmd but the parents were a worry.  Her death details here in Nsw, Australia had her father as George, but brother Samuels marriage had father as Daniel.  You don't perchance happen to have the 1851 census about you do you?  ... ;D
Although I guess he could even have died by then
Anyway thanks again.
p.s.
I believe Anath? could be Asanath, b1844 West Bromwich, d/o Daniel and Hannah

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Zillah Partridge of West Bromwich or Wednesbury
« on: Sunday 05 March 06 10:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I'm hoping some kind soul can find my great granny Zillah Partridge in a census. Maybe 1841, '51 or 61.  I have only  her birth in 1839. She married Alfred Stanton in 1873 at Holy Trinity West Bromwich and may have had a brother Samuel, who married her sister in law Selina Stanton around 1865/66.
I realise this is a big ask with no street address, but worth a try.
 :)
Thanks

Lanarkshire / Any Dalziels in Lanarkshire around 1861-71
« on: Monday 31 January 05 10:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
looking for a hole in the brick wall.
GG G/F William DALZIEL born abt.1836 Lanarkshire. Arrived in Australia in 1874 with wife Mary and children Annie (11) James (10) and John (7).  He was a Coppersmith and married abt 1860ish in Kent I think.   But my questions revolve about his parents and any siblings.  On immigration film his mother was Sarah from Lanarkshire and his father appears to have been James, (from NSW Birth s Deaths and Marriages. ) who died before 1874. I have no clue which part of Lanarkshire he was from so a census look up is out of the known universe. But maybe something may ring a bell with someone.  His daughter Annie married William Beck in Sydney in 1885 and their daughter was my grandmother, Eileen Annie Beck b. 1899
Hopeful Thanks

Completed Census Requests / Re:Census look up 1861 Wednesbury Stanton family

 ;D
Thank you so much Robin Hood and Gardener!,
Selina is one of the sisters who went to Australia before Alfred did. The ages fit.  And Alfred was a blacksmith in Aust in 1900. So I'm happy. Other sister Mary Amelia not born til 1853. I wonder where they all were in 1861?
If you should happen to come across Zillah Partridge in your travels, any info on her family would go down well. I assume she was from Wednesbury as well but not sure.
Anyway many thanks again. Anything I can help with in Australia let me know
