Hi Margaret - I'm sorry, there's no mention of either in Prestonpans Churchyard (still the current church) or Prestonpans West where there was a possibly medieval church, according to the book.

Hi Caroline

I have a book covering Dunlop (Kilmarnock and Loudoun District) but there are no Stewarts buried there according to the MI's.  However, there are Stewarts in Stewarton Churchyard, Fenwick, High Kirk Kilmarnock, Laigh Kirk Kilmarnock, Kilmarnock Cemetery and St Andrews Kilmarnock.

I have Stewart rellies from there too (hence the purchase of the book) so PM me with who you are looking for and I'll get back to you - perhaps we have some in common   :D

Hi Steve

there's only one Marshall in the book - buried in Tranent:

obelisk by George Johnston from Australia in memory of Helen Donaldson 8.1.1847 (57), brother James drowned under distressing circumstances near the Bass Rock 29.6.1864 (47), father Peter Johnston 29.3.1874 (84).  His end was Peace.  Jane Marshall 21.10.1890 (64), husband Robert Johnston.  Verse.

south side - In mem of my bro John Johnston 13.9.1874 (57).  Our father Robert Johnston 29.3.1898 (82)

north side - In mem of Margaret Hay 19.3.1877 (67) 2nd wife of Peter Johnston.  Also Peter Johnston 4.9.1899 (25) cut short a life of singular promise in his profession as a stockbroker at Edinburgh and in his helpful service to the people of Cockenzie, father Thomas Johnston, Elcho Place, Cockenzie.  Eulogy.

Hope this helps

Hi Elizabeth

The Pringles connect to my line via Helen Pringle b 1777 who m James Forrest.  Helen's parents were Thomas Pringle (d 1830 Haddington) and Isabel Knox (d 1820 Haddington).  There's a headstone at St Mary's which mentions Thomas late provost of Haddington, Isobel and children William, Thomas, Janet and George.  If I discover any Elizabeth Pringles in the family I'll PM you.

Hi Elizabeth

Sorry - I don't have any info on births and the MI book doesn't cover Haddington.  St Mary's in Haddington has a website with a list of names on it (Google and you'll find it no problem) and by coincidence I have Pringles from Haddington in my tree - perhaps we're related  :)

Hi - the MI book doesn't include Inveresk which I think is in Midlothian.  It covers Tranent churchyard, Seton Chapel, Prestonpans (incl P West) and Ormiston old churchyard.  Sorry I can't be of help on this occasion  :)

Hi Grossan - checked out your lookups and info as follows:

Ref 685/2/47 FR 68 St Cuthbert's Edinburgh
John Milne, Compositor residing in <illegible address - big blob on film> and Elizabeth Barth residing in No 50 Buccleuch Street, both in this Parish, youngest lawful daughter of Peter Barth, Compositor, also residing there, having been 3 several times duly and regularly proclaimed in the Parish Church of St Cuthberts in order to marriage and no objections offered.  Married at Edinburgh on the 4th July 1854 by the Rev Berkeley Addison of St Johns E Chapel

Ref 484/1 FR 259  Kippen Baptisms  (this was in a table format rather than narrative) - 16 June 1793  father John McLauchlan, mother Katharine Macfarlane, child bap - William  Witnesses - Congregation

Hope this helps - there's quite a few details in the first one which may be useful, but you never know how much info you will find in OPR's, as the second one shows!

Merry Christmas when it comes!
