Down / Re: LOWERY/Lowry - WILLIAMSON Families in Co. Down
« on: Friday 16 June 23 11:59 BST (UK)  »
I realise that quite a few years have passed since the last entry, but I'm currently trying to trace my Lowry ancestry and I see that some of the contributors here may be able to help me.
My 3rd great-grandfather was a Thomas Lowry (circa 1800 - circa 1850) from Killinchy and he married a Margaret Campbell (circa 1801 - 1872), the daughter of William Campbell, also from Killinchy in Killinchy Presbyterian Church on 10 Oct 1822.
Sometime after this Thomas and Margaret moved to Carnacally townland in Kilmore Parish near Crossgar, Co.Down. They had 5 children during their marriage.
Any information regarding Thomas Lowry and/or Margaret Campbell's families in Killinchy would be greatly appreciated.

Armagh / Re: Who Were The Parents of William Burrell Born 1831 Lurgan Ireland??
« on: Sunday 24 January 21 15:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Kate,

Since my last message in September I have discovered that my 2nd great-grandfather was in fact a David Burrell (b. 1829 - d. 31 Dec 1899) and not James. David was the son of William, a weaver from Lurgan.

David married a Rosanna Moneypenny in the Church of Ireland, Shankhill Parish, Lurgan on 7 Jan 1855, and they had at least four children together: William, Elizabeth, John and Emily.

I'm almost certain that your ancestor William b. 1831 was David's brother, and that they had at least two other siblings: James b. 1834 and Thomas b.1839.

Kind Regards

Russell

Many thanks Sandra. I haven't been on the site for a while and I've only just noticed the new material you've put on.

My grandfather's brother, Robert Martin, (Son of Robert Martin sr. and Susanna Hart) born 28th March 1880 in the townland of Raleagh, Crossgar, County Down emigrated to America with his childhood sweetheart (name u/k) early in the 20th century and, according to elderly relatives, they opened a small hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I would appreciate any advice from some of the more experienced researchers on this site as to how best to go about tracing Robert jr. Thank you.

Armagh / Re: Moneypenny, Hiram or Mathew circa 1800
« on: Tuesday 22 September 20 16:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I've just discovered that my 2nd great-grandmother was called Rosanna Moneypenny (born cerca 1831) and she married a David Burrell in Lurgan, Co. Armagh on 7 January 1855. Rosanna's father was also Hiram Moneypenny, whose occupation was given as tailor.

I'm just wondering if Rosanna had any siblings and does anyone know who her mother was?

Many thanks

Russell
