Surrey / Re: William May m 1856 to Elizabeth Winter, Wandsworth

Is this the Elizabeth Winter the son of John Winter who went to Melbourne/New Zealand about 1857.
Born in Berwick on Tweed circa 1837. John Winter was a Mason married to Ann Durie. Both died in Melbourne. Many of the girls ended up in NZ. For example Margaret circa 1830 married Charles Sandilands the Baker in Hokitika

Hi Leslie,

I have the Creak transcriptions and have found out that the maternal side traces back to the ancient family of Spottiswood or Spotswood through Barbara Spotswood. I understand very little remains of the old Spottiswood Castle and later Mansion.
I was wondering if there are any inscriptions with this name in probably Westruther.

Is anyone aware of any burial records for Penicuik.
James Fairbairn one of my Great Great X grandfathers was the Schoolmaster there in the 1730s and was probably buried in St Kertigens yard?

Nairnshire / Re: Alexander FRASER, Gamekeeper, Nairnside

I have an Alexander Fraser who died a Gamekeeper in 1888.
He was married to Catharine Munro who also died in 1888.
Alex was 85 at death and died in Gartymore. He had at least one son a John Fraser. It is clear that he was a Gamekeeper on the death certificate.

I have a Helen Allan who married Alexander Creak in Eccles in November 1765. I dont yet have any details on Helen Allan but Eccles was a small village. So she was born perhaps circa 1740?.
I understand that land tax payers are in the same booklets as the Inscriptions and may help which families lived where?

If someone has them can they please look up the Creak family in Eccles.
Perhaps Alexander or David or Thomas CREAK.

Hi Emma,
According to my research Thomas Creak or Craik plus his wife Jane and children Alexander, Thomas, William and David perhaps others.
They owned property at Wester Whitrig and were tenants at Easter Whitrig all near Eccles. They had left Temple and are not in that 1841 Census. Thomas and Jane are in the Eccles graveyard.
Name was sometimes spelt Creack or Craike.
Alexander would be about 17 the oldest child.
