Hi Lynn,
I have traced my Boyds back to John Boyd born in 1740 in Ireland and his wife (who was also his cousin) Margaret Boyd born in 1740 in Lismoyle, Ireland. I know that they go back to Scotland as I got a DNA match with a Boyd in Glasgow..... however, getting records pre 1750 in Ireland is pretty difficult. So they had a son called John Boyd (1785-1865) who married Malsey Gage. They had a son called Andrew Ballyclough Boyd (1800-1861) who married Martha Forgrave (1800-1881), one of their sons Thomas (Ballyclough Collins) Boyd married Margaret Heaney (1842-1900). It was Andrew Boyd's brother John III who married Margaret "Peggy" Blair that was my ancestor. This Boyd was my great-great-grandfather. I cannot work out yet how these connect with Leticia and Thomas but  Ancestry says for Thomas (husband of aunt of wife of 1st cousin 4x removed). So off to the side.....
I have filled in quite a bit of my Boyds and of Thomas and Leticia's descendents. If you want to see my tree it is public on Ancestry (McDaid_Irvine family_2020) or if you send me your email I will send you an invite to it.
I was born not far from where the Boyds came from in N.Ireland but had a protestant Dad who was in the British airforce and a catholic Mum so when he left the RAF we had to emigrate- and emigrated to Australia in 1972. I go back home as often as I can in fact was there for a month in Nov 2019 but at that time did not know all this history- even drove through where they came from!!
Anyway good to connect with you. Linda

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Thomas Heaney and Ann Thomson

Hi, great to read all your posts on the Heaney's of Cullycapple. I am a descendent of Thomas Boyd (Ballyclough) who married Margaret "Peggy" Heaney. I was born in Strabane, Ireland but now live in Australia. Was home in Nov 2019 but did not know of this Boyd link then. Does anyone know when this Boyd group came to Ireland from Scotland? I know they go to Scotland due to matching DNA I have with Boyds of Glasgow.
Thanks again for all the info.

Donegal / Re: Michael McDaid - Donegal - "Bloody Sunday" ( COMPLETE)
« on: Monday 13 July 20 09:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi, there are a large number of different McDaid families in Derry (mostly from the Bogside). My branch is from Derry although going back a few generations (my great-great-grandfather) was Arthur McDaid and was one of three brothers- one called Bernard, and one called Patrick. Patrick and all his subsequent family lived and were born in Derrora townland (near Letterkenny). Arthur and Bernard's family were all in Derry although remember Derry was part of Donegal not so long ago! the border only went up in the 20th century.....
Not sure if this is any help Linda

Tyrone / looking for the Grahams of Donemana
« on: Monday 01 June 20 11:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi having trouble getting far with this.... My great grandmother was Catherine Graham who according to my mother was born in Donemana. She married Alexander Dinsmore in 1888 in Strabane, Tyrone. In the 1901 and the 1911 census she is report as 40 years old (in BOTH). So I do not know if her birthdate is 1871 or 1861! Her father's name is John and that is all I know..... so cannot even find her birth certificate let alone other family members. Any help appreciated
Linda

Sounds right doesn't it.... except the ages of William and Martha in the two census don't match- but than can happen can't it?
How do you find things so quickly- especially in the church records?
thanks again!
