Antrim / Re: Belfast - William Davison - help please any ideas ??
« on: Saturday 04 June 16 15:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Thank you so much for your ideas. I had a look at the football website - it does say it has a list of player but sadly only one person is listed :(

aghadowey thank you - that will be the reason I am unable to find anything.  Is there anywhere that we can look for marriage for William and Rachel? Totally understand that not able to post about living people

It looks as though all the info my friend has is a bit muddled but is right - just maybe the wrong people.

Birth cert info is
William born 05/03/1919 at Killips Place Holywood. Fathers name James Davison an iron turner. Mothers name: Madge Davison (nee Noble).

I am wondering if Madge was a shortened name for Margaret?
Now need to find when/ where James & Madge married. They must have moved to Holywood from Belfast at some point.

I am assuming that Madge and the Noble family may have come from the Belfast area as well.

David thank you I think you may have found the family - all your reasons fit in and make perfect sense :)   After having a look at the censuses 1911 shows  James 19 a turner iron and is right age as well.

This is what makes me think that the info is a bit mixed up with the wrong people but is right.  James came from a large family living in the right area.  She remembers the name John Davison - James has a brother John so this also fits in it could be him that my friend remembers.  Also a name Aunty Cissie came up not sure which side she belongs too.

Think you are right Gaffy - looking at this William may not have been the youngest of so many children  :-\

All confusing but  becoming a little clearer.

Thank you once again - any help is very welcomed :)

Antrim / Belfast - William Davison - help please any ideas ??
« on: Sunday 29 May 16 13:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi

This is a long shot but need any help / ideas where to go to look. I am trying to help a friend locate her family that lived in Belfast Northern Ireland. Due to many circumstances over the years we have very little information to go on.
Any help pointing us in the right direction would be most appreciated.

Her father was William Davison b Belfast 05/03/1919 his mum was called Margaret and there were a lot of brothers/sisters (13) I believe?  I remember the name John referred to not sure if it is a brother.  She believes that Margaret died when William was a baby & his father died falling of a crane whilst working in Belfast docks. William therefore must have been the youngest as she thinks he possibly had 13 to 14 siblings!

William married only know the 1st name of his wife, Rachel they had 2 girls (who also moved to UK at a later date. Rachel could have died around 1967. The names of the 2 girls, her half sisters, as she would like to try and contact them.

Rachel remarried believing that William had been killed / not returning from the war.

He did return and the reason he moved to Bristol leaving his wife and 2 girls in Belfast. I have found his death records which confirms his DOB. He died Jul 1/4 1985 Bristol aged 66

We have found birth records 1919 Jan 1/4 Belfast - how ever am not able to find this when searching on GRONI :( not sure where I am going wrong. So not sure how to order the Birth cert which would tell us his parents names :)

She also knows William did some boxing have a very old photo of a trainer who was a midget?  She also used to have a photo of him as goalkeeper for Glentoran Rovers with a big shield c1935 [may still have it some where]. I have tried looking for any websites for Glentoran FC but none listing players that played for them in 1935.

That is all the information we have not much to go on but never know :) any help pointing us in the right direction to look would be great

Thanks
K

Hi

I would be very grateful if someone could let me know the approximate date that this photograph may have been taken please.  A wonderful picture of my relative who moved to New Zealand.  Maybe the dates will help to clear up a mystery fingers crossed

A clean up to would be fantastic.

Thank you in advance

Hi Carole

Thank you yours matches the one I found and have order the certificate. Fingers crossed when it comes will maybe shed some lite.

Is a puzzle - in 1891 living in Holywell is John Jacques with wife Elizabeth with children Jane, William and Ethel.  But can't find any record for Guy Warwick. Ethel is the only one born in the USA but I have not yet found any records for her in the USA.

Hi all

Am in need of help here please I have seen thread on this before but can't for the life of me find it again. So forgive me for starting again. My Jacques descendants are leading me a merry dance   ???

I am trying to find out the link between the Guy Warwick born 1857 Hartley / Earsdon  and the Jacques family.

1871 Census -  North Row E Holywell Guy Warwick adopted son of George Jacques b 1832 & Elizabeth (nee Hope) their son John Jacques b abt 1858 is not mentioned but he was living with them on the 1861 census
1881 census - 23 George Street Guy Warwick was a 'boarder' with wife Elizabeth living with George and Elizabeth (nee Hope) Jacques & family.  No mention of their son John Jacques
1891 census can't find Guy Warwick but I find John Jacques 34 coal miner [ temporary insane?] at Holywell with wife Elizabeth and children Jane Jacques b 1884, William Jacques 1886 both born in Earsdon and Ethel b 1890 b Colerado USA
1901 census 4 Byrone Road Southwick  Guy Warwick b Hartley quarryman limestone with wife Elizabeth and children William b 1886 Holywell,  Jane b 1883 Holywell, Ethel b 1890 USA British subject & Margaret J b 1895 Holywell
In 1902 find a newspaper cutting stating that Guy Warwick was in and accident in the quarry and got burnt
In 1911 I find a Guy Warwick an inmate to the Sunderland Asylum,  is that due to his accident? Wife Elizabeth 53 living with children at Gillside cottage Sunderland William J Warwick, Ethel, and Margaret J

What is the connection between Guy Warwick and the Jacques and what happened to John Jacques.

I have John Jacques in this family mixed up in another branch, but where did John Jacques son of George Jacques and Elizabeth [nee Hope] disappear too. Where does Guy Warwick fit in seems they are one and the same person and how is Ethel the only one that was born in the USA.

Hope this all makes sense  :-\

Northumberland / Martin Forster - help with this mystery please
« on: Saturday 16 March 13 14:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All hope someone will be able to help solve my problem with my Martin Forster b abt 1823. I can't seen to find him on any census record after 1841 when he was living with his father and step mother.

I have a baptism record for 1823 in the chapelry of Haydon, Northumberland Martin son of James and Elizabeth Abode: Talkin, Cumberland

I have his marriage record 1842 to Mary Ann Dawson. His name appears on the baptism records that i have found for children James b 1847 Hexham, John b 1850 Middlesborough [don't have any baptism info], Richard b 1855 Hexham and his daughter Elizabeth birth certificate.  His occupation stated on all is iron moulder or moulder

I have found census records in:
1851  Hexham for a Mary married moulders wife with sons James 4 and John 1 [no mention of a husband]
1861 Haugh Lane Hexham Mary 39 married living with James 14, John 11, Richard 6 & Elizabeth 2. [Elizabeth was born at Haugh Lane]
1871 Jarrow, Durham Mary Ann Forster Widower 50 with James 24 Iron Moulder, Elizabeth 12, Thomas 8 & Ann Jane 3.
1881 Jarrow Durrham Mary Ann Foster 60 widower she had 3 boarders living with her at the time all moulders
1891  6 Ipswich Road, Shoreditch, London, England Mary Ann Forster 72 Widow living with her daughter Elizabeth 31 & husband Arthur Lee [glass cutter]& family

It seems very strange that there are none for Martin and no death records either [died before the census in 1871]  ???

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions will be very welcome
