Thank you for checking! I guess I'll need to look elsewhere in Scotland records.

Thanks for looking Maddy. Im curious to know if the James you found is a piece of my puzzle or not. I will be looking at that website you mentioned. I have already seen the marriage record for my James and Margaret. It unfortunately mentions nothing of parents. The search continues, lol

Family History Beginners Board / Looking for help with surname TWEEDIE

Hello, this is my first new topic post. I am looking into the Tweedie line of my ancestry. I cannot get further than my 4th great grandfather, James Tweedie, who emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1821. I understand there is a book with potential information that may be helpful to me.

WHYTE, DONALD. A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada before Confederation. Toronto: Ontario Genealogical Society. Volume 2, 1995. 435p.

Thats the book, but I am wondering if anyone has any information, suggestions, or advice in terms of looking for leads.

The info I have on James Tweedie is being born in 1797 in Torthowald, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Married to Margaret Byer in 1819 in Kircudbrightshire (if I spelled that right), Scotland.

New member and 1st post for me on here. Didn't see how to post a new topic so here goes... Looking for James Tweedie arriving with his son Thomas Tweedie in 1821. It should be from ...

WHYTE, DONALD. A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada before Confederation. Toronto: Ontario Genealogical Society. Volume 2, 1995. 435p.

I was able to find an online copy of volume 3, but not volume 2. I need any lead I can find from it. Ship name and date in 1821, or the names of James's parents.
