That's spot on KG. Many thanks for that!

Robert Edgar was my Grandfather and Robert Norman was his son (my Uncle) - Norman died a couple of years back aged around 87.  Maybe Norman's wife was Megarry as none of Roberts daughters married a Megarry.

John Edgar was my Great Grandfather and William John was his oldest son - this William J could be a Grandson..  I'll confirm this with my Aunt Beth - the last surviving member of Robert's family.

Regarding your earlier comment about Alexander McCully and Eliza McCarron - I think this may be a different connection. When Agnes' mother died she went to live with her Uncle Adam (Alexander's brother) and Adam's father on his marriage registration to Emma Laughlin is shown as Thomas McCully. The 1911 Census show Adam & Emma and Niece Aggie aged 15. Too many Alexander McCully's!  But getting clearer and clearer!  My Aunt Beth might know was the connection Moore or McCarron. Or it's a different Adam and Emma.

That is right Sam Barry.

Mary Coulter died in October 1883 and the death registration was signed by her son John Edgar - my Great Grandfather..

Kiltaglassan

Yes you are probably right about Elizabeth McCarran - I can check with my Auntie Beth - she is the Daughter of Agnes McCully.  Certainly Agnes was 5 in the 1901 Census. I was torn about this as I thought there was a connection with the Moore's of Moybrick as well.

Sorry - quite correct!
Mary Jane Dennison married John Edgar on 10th January 1860.  Their son Robert married Agnes McCully in 1920.  Agnes' father was Alexander McCully (born 1873) and her mother was Elizabeth (I think Moore) born 1874.  Elizabeth died from TB on 9th April 1901 aged 27 when Agnes was 5.  Her husband Alexander went to Chicago and Agnes (called Aggie) was brought up by her Uncle Adam McCully and his wife Emma (nee Lauglin).   My father was named after Adam.

Yes I have that thanks.
Have also established that Hamilton Edgar's wife was in fact Mary Sloan. She remarried in 1836 (after Hamilton's death) to James Coulter a neighbouring farmer in Lower Moybrick.  She died on 19th October 1883 aged 83 - this was just 5 months after her grandson (my Grandfather Robert) was born. Mary Coulter (as she now was) was born in 1800 and the death registration was signed by her son John Edgar (my great grandfather).
Hamilton probably is old than her - maybe born in the 1780's or 1790's.  Everything from the 1800's forward except Hamiltons marriage is pretty clear.

Just to avoid double searching -  I forgot to mention that John Edgar / Mary Jane Dennison had 15 children of which 13 survived. I have most of these details so looking for their parents families details.

Down / Edgar & Dennison - Lower Moybrick, Dromara Co down

My Great Grandfather John Edgar, born 1928, was married to Mary Jane Dennison on 10th Jan 1860. Their son Robert, born on 28th April 1883 married Agnes McCully on 5th Oct 1920. Robert's father John Edgar died on 10th October 1913 aged 85. John's wife Mary Jane died in 1917 aged 73 which would make her birth around 1844. However, the 1901 Census and 1911 Census record Mary Jane's age as 60 and 70 respectively making her birth around 1841.
Mary Jane's father was John Dennison and I have a record of John Dennison's marriage to Mary Sprott on 19th May 1937 at 1st Dromara Presbyterian Church which the Edgar's also attended until the opening of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in 1874.  Trying to confirm if Mary Sprott was Mary Jane Dennison's mother. Also have a record that Grace Faris / Faires / Ferris, wife of Robert Dennison had a son John Dennison born on 1st Nov 1817.  Trying to confirm this is the same John Dennison as Mary Jane's father.
On the Edgar side of the family, I know that John Edgar's father was Hamilton Edgar and was married to Mary Sloan but Hamilton passed away in the early to mid-30's as Mary Sloan got remarried to James Coulter, also of Lower Moybrick, in 1836.  Mary Coulter died in October 1883 and the death registration was signed by her son John Edgar.

Down / Re: COMPLETED- Skeogh School near Dromore
« on: Tuesday 28 April 20 20:03 BST (UK)  »
Just for interest - I went to Skeagh / Skeogh School from 1960 until 1967. It closed the following year.
At that time the address was Skeagh School, Skeagh, Dromore.   Today it's School Road, Dromore.  I live in Tullindoney - next townland between Skeagh and Drummiller.  When I went there the Headmaster was Mr Walsh from current day Edentrillick Road, Hillsborough.
