My grandfather was Walter Charles Hamilton and he emigrated to British Columbia, specifically to the west coast of Vancouver island in 1912. He met my grandmother Mabel Hall on the boat coming over. she was 12 years old and he waited until she was 24 and then they were married. Walter was known to all as Mike and he was a lineman who was part of the crew who put the telegraph line up the west coast of Vancouver Island. Mike and Mabel had 4 daughters. My mother Joan was one of them. My grandfather had family who also emigrated to BC, Charlotte, known as Minnie, Harry, known as Harry and Alexander, known as Addie. Harry was a butcher and Addie was a farmer.  My grandfather grew up on a farm in Lisagore, County Monaghan. His father was Scott and his mother was Sarah.  I have attached a link to an article written about our Hamilton Family as they were influential on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Mike was eventually the Mayor of Port Alberni, also a town on Vancouver Island.
