John Lauder Hislop/ John Lauder or Hislop.  His parents were David Hislop and Janet Watson.   He died 10-11-1887  at Main Street Biggar and was a Fruiterer and Toy Merchant!  I am related through his brother James Hislop 1814-1871 wife Isaballa Lunn 1814-1900 and their daughter Alison Hislop 1850-1931 was my GGrandmother.
As you say John Hislop Lauder was married twice  first to a Helen (cant read her surname) then Jane Wilson.

Margaret Lauder's daughter Jeannie Wilson Liddle 1874-1935 went to Vancouver and has living relatives there.  (PS I dont know a Max!)

Ruby "Robina Ann Fraer Reid" and her husband George Gunn lived in Fort William about 1969 until they retired in 1974. When they were at Fort William they regularly travelled to Fortrose to visit her aunt. At retiral they moved there to be near her. I visited Fortrose a number of times and Ruby was often visiting her Aunt.  Ruby was born most likely in RSA in 1923 and travelled back to Uk in 1928. Her parents were Alexander Reid a Carpenter and Robina Strong McEwen born 1890 in Wick and were most likely married in RSA. I have been unable to discover the full story but is most likely that Ruby's mother died in RSA and that her father was unable to look after her so she was looked after by her Aunt  Netta  and Uncle the Camerons. Ruby never talked about her parents or the Camerons. She never mentioned your mother.  I have been unable to trace Rubys father but I think he was alive in the 1950's. Anything you can add would be of interest.  Ruby is not a blood relative but I lived with them for 4 months in 1959 in Helensburgh when my father was unwell and holidayed with them in the 1960's.  The originator of this thread seems to have only been active in 2013 so may not see the recent additions.

Forgot to say that the connection between the Gibb family and the Ritch family through Agnes who worked for the Gibbs is the  Paper Mill in Watertown NY where John Gibb and Edward Ritch both worked.

Its been a while since you posted this but I found in the 1953 Voters Records, Agnes as a Housekkeper at Apt 31  255 Metcalfe Street, Ottawa and in 1957 at same address maked retired with a Mrs Catherine Gibbs.  I have been looking at the Gibb family to see what happened to them in case it provided any hints.

Technical Help / Software for an Android Tablet
« on: Thursday 23 November 17 13:41 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone suggest software for my Android Tablet, so that I can use it "out in the field" esentially to collect information from records or informants.  All I need is the ability to make new files and add data to them. Ideally it would generate a GEDCOM file that I can extract when I get home and use on my PC.  I dont need to take my main files with me.

It can be quite basic as long as it has a person note feature.
