Wow thank you so much guys :-). Along they way I learned that John's father was a prisoner of war during WW1, that was a little surprise in itself and the long range artillery no doubt will be too.

Thank you Ian, the family are very excited :). Understandably my father in law is almost very closed on the subject, however as a militaria collector myself it does mean a lot to me to locate a photo for him and that's been much harder than I thought.  Kindest regards Rob

What a random find this post is. One of John Heigold's sons born in 1941 is my father in law, unfortunately Ray has no recollection of his father being too young.  I've been on a mission to find any photos of John that may exist as Ray has never even seen a picture of him. Chris you're wife is the missing link (Robert/Bob's daughter) that the rest of the family has been wondering about, my wife being her first cousin. Would she have any photos of John at all? Her extended family here in New Zealand would like to connect.
