Thank you, that makes more sense. My googling kept bringing up Symphony Orchestras!

Armed Forces / Passenger List Abbrieviation
« on: Saturday 08 February 25 10:44 GMT (UK)  »
Looking at an incoming passenger list for the HMT Empire Clyde from Singapore to Liverpool in 1953, a significant number of passengers, including the people I am interested in, have an address of c/o E.S.O. Liverpool.

I am assuming it is a military department, but have been unable to find out what it stands for.

(A number of other passengers say c/o R.A.F. Liverpool but this is more self explanatory.)

Can anyone help please?

I am a medical professional (not a GP) so I can advise that no GP would be allowed to discuss her situation with you, unless you have medical power of attorney for her. If however she is able to ring herself, then requesting a dietetic referral could be a good idea.

This general dietetic advice from my local trust may be useful:

Emma Whiles, died 7th April 1925 in Nice. We have the record of her death overseas as sent to the UK foreign office. We would like to know if there is record of her burial / a grave anywhere in the area, any advise on where to start looking would be appreciated.

A long shot, but have you looked in the "UK, Foreign and Overseas Register of British Subjects 1628-1969"

I had an English relative die in Nice, and the register contained a copy of the notification of her death that was sent from France back to the Foreign Office.

London Workhouse Admission and Discharge records, 1764-1930, St Lukes Holborn

In 1871 the family are in Bungay workhouse, with the two older children, which from family knowledge we know to be correct.
