I wonder if anyone can help me to find the burial place of William Robertson, retired police constable, who died in the Cottage Hospital, Hawick on 27th May 1957 aged 74 years, widower of Ellen Redshaw.  His usual residence was in Denholm.
I am sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place :'(

Cumberland / Looking for (James) Hedley Robertson's descendants
« on: Thursday 21 March 13 00:45 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for any details of my husband's cousin, (James) Hedley Robertson, born in 1916 in Kelso.   I was fortunate enough to contact his daughter who lives in Australia, and it seems that her father was married twice and he may have had another daughter from his first marriage. The lady I contacted has Hedley's army recruitment papers and the address he was living at then was something like 53 Raven Hirst, Carlisle. Hedley moved to Australia in the 1970s and died there in 1990.

I will be grateful for any information.

Hi John

Sorry, I have just realised that I can't send you a PM until you make at least aother two posts.

I can tell you that your grandfather, John, was my mother in law's brother, so I would be able to pass on a great deal of information.  Have you seen a photo of William or Jane?  I can also email or PM those to you.

Hope to be in touch with you soon!

Hello Gordon,
Jane was my husband's granny, a very much loved individual.  He is also William Stevenson (obviously named after his grandad), and Granny lived with the family until her death, so Willie had a lot to do with her.

I will attach (if I can!) a photo of Jane, and also of her husband William.

Any info you can give me would be gratefully received.  I find this genealogy fascinating, and very time-consuming!

With kind regards,
Mary

ps - need to find the pic of Jane, but will post as soon as I find it.

Roxburghshire / Seeking info on William Robertson, husband's great uncle

Good morning all,

I am researching my husband's family tree and am looking for any information about his "Uncle Willie" who left the North East of Scotland (Banffshire) and joined the police force in Hawick.  My husband can't remember too much about him, being a small boy when he last saw him, but thinks he had a son called Hedley.  I am looking for a marriage/death record if possible.  William's mother was Jane Robertson, later marrying William Stevenson in Banffshire.

Thanks for reading.
Mary
