Are any of the aunts and uncles still alive?   If not then could you give us some names and birth years so we can check for you?

I assume the surname is Homewood?  What would be the mother's maiden name?

Hello,
I'm new to this page but have been researching my family tree (and that of my husband) for over a year quite intensively. It all started when I was told to rest completely after a bout of "mono" and had to take a break from biking, hiking, gardening, and (hurrah) housework. It was far more interesting than watching T.V.!

I have found a lot of information about many of my relatives, however, I would love to get more detail about certain branches. Unfortunately, many of my mother and father's family are Browns and Smiths....This has understandably been a challenge. The Wakelins of Brentford (some shifted to New Zealand in the 1860s and 1870s), the Balneaves of Fearn, Scotland (some shifted to New Zealand at the same time), the Mercers of Margate, and the Homewoods of Bethnal Green are just some of my relatives. I know that I've seen posts about the Stephensons/Stevensons who were map engravers. I am related to them through Louisa Martha Stephenson (She was my great great great grandmother) who married Thomas Homewood. My great grandmother, Beatrice Emily Homewood (1871-1931) married Herbert William Rodwell Bishop (1862-1919). HWR Bishop's father was George Bishop. George Bishop's obituary mentioned that he died in Southampton (1879) but was "formerly of Victoria, Hong Kong" as a commercial clerk. If anyone would like to contact me for or with information about any of these families, I am happy to share and would be delighted to learn more. Cheers! Melanie Wakelin
