Hi Barbara,
The map i used was on the online map resourse, Old-Maps.co.uk
I selected "prestwich" and chose the 1932 map the scrolled to the corner of heaton park.
I use this site a lot in my geneology works.

Lancashire / White Heather Camp (The Huttments)

Hi all,
Whilst researching my Fathers Childhood, i found his address on leaving school in 1931 was listed as Eighth Ave, Heaton Park. I have located it with lots of help from my friends.
I have found reference to it being a place for family's from the slums to have a holiday. But i have found the "estate " listed in the electoral register. This infers more than a holiday visit.
Any help please on this estate, also shown on map in 1932 as "The huttments".
Rooting for info,
Regards Mike (The first Hutty)

Hi all Heaton Park "Prefabers"
Put your search engines and brains into neutral.
I have found my Eighth Ave, Heaton Park.
It was in the "White Rose Camp" near Middleton Road and Sheepfoot Lane junction, on or near the site of the prefabs. I have it on a map from 1932. It is als listed as "The Huttings" on the map.
Thank you all for your help, I am now going to start a new thread for "The White Rose Camp"
Regards Mike.   8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Hi to all you Prefabers,
I too visited my relations on one of the estates, but have no record of which one.
Their names were Eddie and May Doran.
I found this topic whilst searching for an address for my Father in 1931.
It was stated as 9, Eighth Avenue, Heaton Park.
On searching the Electoral Register,
I found it listed as Heaton Park, Eighth Ave.
I cannot find where this was. Any clues ??
Also some Prefabs of this type still exist in Altrincham, on Ellesmere Road and Urban Road. These have been modernized and reclad in brick.
Regards to all Mike :-*
