Hi everone. I'm trying to find any info on my 4th great grandfather James Leighton or Lighten born 1822 and married a lady called Honoria Walsh born 1825. Something to do with Co Mayo Ireland.  His father was John Leighton/Lighton born 1841. I've started getting into this recently. Take care. Lily.

Family History Beginners Board / Broad family

Hi everyone, im searching now for the Broad family in particular for Frederick Broad  born in Liskeard Cornwall in 1861.  In the 1871 census he was 10.  The family were drapers.  I know that in the 1891 census he was living in Manley Terrace Liskeard, he was 31 at the time on the 1891 census.  Not been able to find where he went to from there, when he died or where he is buried.  His father was Thomas Broad and mother Eliza Broad.  If anyone can find out anything more about Frederick, i would be most greatful.  Lily

I appreciate how truths can be mixed up and stories added and that we can only assume a lot of stuff and information.  I've got him as being baptised in Pinnock on the 20th Dec 1778. Parents William and Elizabeth Hambley. I have Mattew born in Liskeard in 1778. He died at that age of 84 in 1862.

He married Susanne Couch on the 14th May 1819. He was considerably older than she around 17 years. I have found no children. I wonder if he re married and therefore may of had children with his first wife....speculation of course.

I resently joined the Old Cornwall Society and I'm doing this research for the society so that any family members who may be researching their own family history, will at least have some information that i will leave in the archives for them to have. Often people come into oir museum enquiring for any information. As i ssy, I'm new to it all but i find it facinating and interesting and what a way to spend my free time. Everyone's a winner!

Lily
