Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Re: Ebbutt family 1871 census Croydon
« on: Monday 19 May 25 14:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi EBBUTT family.

My interest is Abi Susannah EBBUTT who became Abi PRATT when she married Matthew PRATT from Staffordshire in 1860.

I am interested in her early life. I am unable to find her in the 1841 or 1851 census returns. Sadly Abi died young in 1866.

Any information gladly accepted.
EDIT---

Looks like I found them in 1841 at a place called Duppa's Hill.
Event Type Census
Event Date 1841

I love all this stuff from the Cheddleton area as this is where James FORRESTER born 1777 was from (a 4th Great Grandfather of mine).
His birth record is not certain but reading his life backwards everything fits with his birth year of 1777.
The family bible has him and his Daughter Mary GOLDSTRAW FORRESTER as coming from Southlow, Wetly Rocks.
All these posts are great background material and everything helps me.

There are so many FORRESTER's it is hard work linking them.

Bushinn1746

Are you in support of "Jacobite John" route ?
I do like the idea but need some convincing.

I did present this view on another page.

To Sally G ............

I have put your suggestion to the developers of the " Wood Heath" housing development, on the land in Great Wyrley/ Cheslyn Hay, where Emmanuel Forrester was coal master.
Which I think is a cracking idea.

We have to be careful as I am convinced there will be problems with the old mine shafts which litter that site. So "Pit Shaft Street" is probably a non starter.

BUT how could they turn down " Forrester Way" as a name for the Wood heath theme.

I will let you know if I get a reply.

A sad end indeed.
I am of the opinion that those ruffians from Leek were to blame.
But hard for the Police to prove anything. Also we have to consider that the Police had only just been invented.

I have him covered in a page with those very strange songs from "The Moorland Jew".

Hello AndyForr

Great to see people searching for history. I have been reading about it for a few years and still find it fascinating.
would be great to hear about your little anecdote about a watch and your grandfather.
I am fairly sure we had watch makers in our family.

As it happens I was just checking this thread to see if there were any updates. I am just nearing the end of my re-write and it is in blog form.

Best wishes Martin

OH YES - The Tomkin.

I forget which will it was now BUT one of the FORESTER'S nominated Samuel WOOD a blacksmith at the TOMPKIN as an executor of his will.

This must be the place.

I have found the will now - it was Michael WARDLE. The Brother-in Law of James FORRESTER b1777.
