His matches to me on his paternal line are from many different people's tests so I am 100% sure that that is how I am related to him.  The weird thing is that of the 760 4th cousin and closer matches two names make up the vast majority of the shared matches and they are his paternal grandmothers line.  His mother's line has about 30 matches of which only a small number over 20cm and none more than about 30cm.  She was born in New Zealand but her parents were English and she went back to England to marry then came back to NZ.  Her parents were actually first cousins so I thought this would magnify the number of cm to that line.

Hi,  I manage a person's dna on ancestry who is related to me on his paternal line.  His grandfather was the fathered by the brother of my great grandfather not who he had thought.  We have many matches proving this.  He has over 700 4th cousin matches .  Many many of them are through his father's mother's line.  They keep showing as maternal.  I know I can change them to paternal, but there are hundreds of them. I have put the matches that are also on My heritage onto DNA painter and many of those matches are often in the same place as my link to him and the others I know are through his father's line.  His actual mother's line has only a handful of matches and none of them are more than 20 cm.  So now I am wondering if he doesn't have another secret lurking in his tree?
His father's mother shouldn't be showing as maternal unless his mother was actually related to them?  I hate to ask him as he has already had one surprise.  Thanks

Hi Carol,  do you want to use my email?  it is (*)
I have copies of the newspaper articles about the bankruptcy etc.  I also received his marriage cert to Olive today and the intestate documents of his father and  Henry inheriting it as his biological son.  I have been in contact with a lady in South Africa who is trying to find any Henry George Clark's that may have arrived there in the time frame.
I look forward to hearing more but I realise that this is not a good time for your friend.  My condolence to her and her family.  Thanks again  Penny

Hi again,Thanks for replying.  It seems Henry George Clark got my Great Grandmother pregnant in 1891.  She was working in Oxford but her parents lived in Barford, in Oxfordshire.  Henry was living as a lodger in Woodstock Oxfordshire which is about half way between the two.  My Great Grandmother was Louisa Margetts, she went to Sutton in Surrey to give birth to my Grandfather.  She registered his birth and named him Corrie Enrico Clark Margetts.  She gave him to people called McRae and he became Corrie Enrico McRae.  It is only through dna that we have decided it is him.  His brother came to New Zealand and I have been in contact with DNA matches to his brother.  From what I have found out Henry George Clark inherited his father's business in 1896, and married Olive Annie Berry in 1900.  By 1901 he was bankrupt.  He and Olive had 2 daughters but by 1911 she and the girls are living with her parents.  I can't find Henry anywhere.  In the New Zealand branch's tree, they just have "went to South Africa" against Henry's name.  Does this tie in with your information at all.  Probably no one knows about Louisa and it is the dna matches that have finally after 18 years of trying found Henry.  It seems Louisa did give clues by using Enrico (Henry) and Clark as part of the name she choose. I live in NZ but came here on my OE in 1974.  Bye for now Penny.

Hi,  I am also interested in finding Henry George Clark as he may be my Great Grandfather.  I have had my dna done and it is on Ancestry and My Heritage.  Have you?  I'd love to hear form you to compare notes.  As this was posted a while ago I will wait and see if you reply before giving  my dna info.
